An All White Affair Featuring Spellbinder

Hello Friends, Viewers and Followers,
Oh what fun it is to see Friday.  It has been a great week with great things that have happen. Someone I know made it home from the hospital/rehab after having bypass surgery.  I know you read this blog every day, so...Welcome back...God is still in the healing business!
I had a good time laughing at a comment someone made concerning fashion.  She said, "Memorial Day is over, now you can wear your white".  This took me back to my younger days.  In the south, we pretty much didn't put on white until after Memorial Day and did not wear it after Labor Day.  Doing research on this topic:? According to fashion reporters, it began in the 1930’s with the ultra-rich wearing only white in the summer. Light clothing gave the look of leisure, while dark clothing was mostly for working people. This idea expanded in the 1950’s among the middle class. GRITS (Girls Raised In The South) held to this hard and fast rule of no white before or after Labor Day. Some say it’s a southern thing, because it’s so hot in the south. It's after Memorial Day so I decided to use white.  I used my Big Shot and a lot of my Spellbinders and Couture dies for an all white affair today.  Then I decided to put together a card:

Die cut pieces from various Spellbinder and Couture.

Die cut pieces from various Spellbinder dies.

THANKS
Enabler's List: Everything white...cardstock, flowers, faux pearls, flourishes, lace ribbon; Spellbinders Romantic Rose die mixed with Spellbinders Opulent Ovals die on this card.

White.  You can't wear it after Labor Day or before Memorial day.  You know what I say? Throw those rules out the window, because fashion is meant to be personal. You want to wear white in the middle of December?   Do it. I'm all for self-expression with fashion and how I make cards.
Thanks for taking a little time to visit with me today.  Have a great weekend.  Wear your white if you want to.
Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

Dear Dad, I've Never Told You This...

Hello Friends, Followers and Viewers,
How great is that man you address as "dad"?  Have you ever thought about some things you wished you had told him or want to tell him?  Father's Day is next month, June 21. Some dads or fathers have not been in a lot of children lives. Either due to death, military duty or a refusal to accept a child as your own, they aren't there.  Today, we are going to think of those who have an active role in your life. Have you held back on some things you want to say but you're thinking, he already knows.  Don't take it for granted that he does.  Men are not like women.  They appear to not have that intuition that women have.  Sometimes they can't sense that something is wrong or that they have done something to make you happy or sad. You really have to be frank and exactly to the point when talking with your dad/father.  This Father's Day or any day that he is still alive and can listen to you or can read anything you write to him, let him know exactly some things that you have refused to tell him. You may have a fear of opening your mouth to say those things you want to say.  A suggestion to those of you in that category...try writing a nice letter or note and place it in that card you will send or give to him.  Dear Dad, I've never told you this...
I'm sharing cards that can be given this Father's Day:

Card Sketch for SplitcoastStampers SC542
Enabler's List: white, red and black cardstock; pattern paper from stash; sentiment was designed in PowerPoint and cut with Spellbinders circle die.

#1 Dad
Enabler's List: black and gold cardstock; pattern paper from stash; hat cut from pattern on design space and mustache cut from EK die. Spellbinders heart die was used to cut out heart from gold cardstock.

DAD
Enabler's List: natural cardstock with pattern paper from DCWV  The Timeless Type Stack; brown felt used for hat and burlap used for band on hat; mustache cut from specialty paper; letter from DCWV The Timeless Type Stack
Writing a Father's Day message this year may feel strange at first but give it a try.  Your dad may be one to keep that note tucked in his wallet for future references.
Thanks for viewing.  I love to hear from you.  Your comments are always welcomed.  You can always share this with others.  They may like what they see.
Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

Crow About Something

Hello Friends, Followers and Viewers,
How is your day going?  It is really a beautiful day outside where I am.  We may or may not have rain this afternoon.  That will be okay...I will finish what I have to do outside before it happens.
Our question for today is do you have something to "crow" about? The meaning from the Free Dictionary  :crow about something  and crow over something:
1. Lit. [for a rooster] to cry out or squawk about something. The rooster was crowing about something—you never know what.   2. Fig. [for someone] to brag about something. Stop crowing about your successes! She is crowing over her new car.
10 Things to Crow about: a college degree, a new car, a birthday, a lottery win, a new job, birth of a baby, a new house (home), a first sale (realtor, card maker), a vacation out of the country and a "perfect" health check-up. Now, that's my list.  What are your ten things to crow about?
Here are the cards I made for someone to crow about:
Something Lovely
Enabler's List: White and green cardstock; Recollection pattern paper; Cricut Explore and Design Space to cut out the hexagon and flourishes; Kaiser Craft paper blooms (coconut); faux bling stickers; Spellbinders M-Boss abilities EL-015 embossing folder; computer generated sentiment

Got Something To Crow About
This will be entered on www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com for this week challenge #185
.

Enabler's List: black and green cardstock; Tim Holtz's watercolor paper; Akashiya Sai Watercolor Brush Pen-20 Color Set; Spellbinders Oval die; computer generated sentiment;
Still practicing with coloring...makes me feel as if I'm in Kindergarten with these brush pens (lol).

A special thanks to all who responded yesterday to my blog.  I love the comments and some of you actually read what you see and like what you see.  Keep doing what you are doing and come back again.  You are the ones who keep me crowing about something.
Sending you a hug and LOVE

Daily Routine or Ritual

Hello Friends, Followers, and Viewers,
I'm sorry that most of you are back at work today.  Some (I know of one) are still getting some "me" time today...(hey you, if you're reading this, have a good restful day).
Let me just ask you something.  Do you have a routine or ritual you follow daily no matter if you're at home or on vacation?  I'm not talking about meditating, praying, taking care of your personal hygiene or eating. I'm more interested in what you do daily that to another person is unproductive.  The President and Vice President receive and go over the Daily Briefing each morning...productive or not? I read the newspaper (on-line) each morning...productive or not? Some people have an exercise routine or ritual every day...productive or not?  There are people who cannot start their day without checking the Horoscope or Astrology page...productive or not? If you missed a reading today, here is one for you that I copied: Cafe Astrology .com   IF TODAY IS YOUR BIRTHDAY   You are very insightful and often help others to better understand themselves. Artistically gifted, you have a real creative bent in addition to general "smarts". You are exceptionally hard working and quite ambitious as well--a combination that virtually guarantees success...productive or not? We all have something we do daily.  We must agree together that what we do is productive no matter if someone else doesn't think so. So continue to do what you are doing.
A routine that I do, not necessarily daily, is to make a card or sometimes two.  Yesterday I talked about becoming proficient in stamping and coloring to go along with my card-making.  I practiced again using a big stamp from Hero Arts.  This is the first take on the stamping.
The words are blurred and some of the parts of the flowers didn't come out . The flowers were colored anyway...practice...practice...practice

This is the second time stamping the Hero Arts stamp.  The words are clear in most of the spots.  Some areas had too much ink and again some of the flower parts didn't stamp.  The coloring is okay but I need to learn how to blend....practice...practice...practice. (I guess I need to stay with very small stamps and gradually work my way up to the big ones).

Since the stamping and coloring didn't go as I thought it would...I went back to something I can do better...die cutting , folding and gluing.  For now, this card doesn't have a title.  It will get one when the time arise.  White and purple cardstock was use along with a Spellbinders Card Creator Tudor Rose die and a Spellbinders butterfly die.

Thanks for stopping by today. I love comments.  Share your thoughts with me.  Tell me if you like what you are reading or if you like the cards.  Hope to hear from you soon.
Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

MOJO with Akashiya Sai and Penny Black

Happy Monday and  Memorial Day to all,

Multitasking On A Friday!

Hello Friends, Followers and Viewers,
A aah... Friday is finally here.  Three or maybe four days off for some "me" time.  That is for all who are still working. While you are working doing whatever you do, can you multitask?  I can usually multitask ...From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia...Human multitasking is the apparent performance by an individual of handling more than one task, or activity, at the same time.  When you think of typing on the keyboard to a computer while talking on the telephone...that is multitasking.  When you think of card-making and doing house cleaning at the same time that is or could be multitasking until something goes wrong. It went wrong this morning.    I've made mistakes on top of mistakes trying to get some cards finish that I apparently started on Thursday while trying to do some other things around the house. They were trashed and I finished the house work and started over with the cards:
Hello, Enjoy Your Special Day
Enabler's List: pink and white cardstock with Recollection pattern paper and dimensional stickers. Petaloo textured elements (flowers), Technique: Piece of card stock 5 1/4"  by 8"  scored at 2" and 4". Fold the card stock in half at the 4" and cut to the score line 3/8" from the bottom and 1 7/8" from the bottom. I added pattern paper to the left side and the cut-out on the bottom. Another piece of cardstock 4 1/4" by 5 1/2" was cut for a base which was adhere to the right side of the top piece. The inside was decorated according to my desire.

The Journey
(a graduation card)
Enabler's List: pink and white cardstock with pattern paper from American Crafts paper pad (amy tangerine); Studio G stamps with Sharpie markers used for coloring. Technique: Piece of card stock 5 1/4"  by 8"  scored at 2" and 4". Fold the card stock in half at the 4" and cut to the score line 3/8" from the bottom and 1 7/8" from the bottom. I added pattern paper to the  sides and the cut-out on the bottom. Another piece of cardstock 4 1/4" by 5 1/2" was cut for a base which was adhere to the right side of the top piece. The inside was decorated according to my desire.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope your weekend is fantastic.  Try some multitasking and see if everything goes as planned.

Isn't It Wonderful...

Hello Friends, Followers, and Viewers,
Someone is ready for a long weekend.  Memorial Day will be observed on Monday and if you can just make it through tomorrow, what a wonderful time it will be.  Isn't it wonderful to have a job you can go to although you may not be making the amount of money to have fun with? Numerous people are still looking and can't get hired.  Isn't it wonderful that you manipulated your iPad, desktop or laptop to come visit this blog today? There are some people who don't have items in the technology department and some may not have fingers to do what you are doing....typing or swiping.  Isn't it wonderful to be alive whether healthy or not? People around you are dying every day.  Some are friends while others are co-workers or family members.  Isn't it wonderful you've had something to eat no matter if you didn't like it?  People with compassion will tell you someone somewhere is wishing they just had something to eat instead of going hungry without a meal.  Isn't it wonderful you still have all parts of your body even if there is an ache or pain going on? We can live without certain body parts but it takes a lot of rehabilitation to learn how to do the simple things we take for granted.
It's just wonderful ....
Isn't it wonderful that I'm sharing two cards with you today:
Hi

End Of The Year Teacher Gift

Happy Wednesday Followers, Friends, and Viewers,
It's hump day after another adventurous day.  I need to slow down to smell the roses or the coffee (both are good).  Days are going by so fast and I've missed some of them (lol).  It makes my heart happy to have nice comments from viewers.  The people on Google Plus, Pinterest, SOC, Splitcoast Stampers, Scrapbook.com, MojoMonday, other challenge blogs and my church members are outstanding. When you see something unique and would love to have it, that is even better.  That is exactly what some people are doing. They have seen something I've created and want it or something like it.    I made a card- in- the box last year around the time of  Teacher Appreciation Week.  It was posted to Pinterest and on SOC.  The number of people who have pinned this card- in- the- box has been overwhelming.  I even saw my creation on a professional card maker's Pinterest page. I've made two to share with you today.  If you missed Teacher Appreciation Week celebration, then the end of the teaching year is coming up and you may need to get her or him a gift.
My share:

Thinking Outside the Box

hello to all,
wishing you a happy monday and hoping you enjoyed your weekend.  i had a fantastic time. yesterday was a full adventurous day.  there were several things we attended and didn't get back home until late.  our thought for today is thinking outside the box.  if you know me and really knew me, i don't like doing the same thing over and over without change.  i'm easily bored and my creative mind will not let me stay inside the box.  wikipedia, the free encyclopedia give this definition for thinking outside the box...is a metaphor that means to think differently, unconventionally, or from a new perspective. this phrase often refers to novel or creative thinking. the free dictionary has this to say... to develop ideas that are different and unusual. we need to think outside the box if we are going to come up with something really new.  here are two cards i'm sharing with you today...i thought outside the box in how i wanted the cards to look:
thanks

When Your Thrill Is Gone

Hello Friends, Followers and  Viewers,
You asked for it.  You wished for it. Now it is here.  TGIF...thank God it's Friday!  This morning after reading the news, I called out to my DH who was still in the bed to tell him "The Thrill Is Gone"! He immediately asked me if I was talking about B.B. King.  Couldn't fool him.  He may have been informed earlier than I had by watching the early, early news on the TV.  We (collectively all of us) get bored often when the passion of something new has worn off.  Yes, the thrill is gone, now what?  We have created these bucket lists of things to do before we die and as soon as we get one thing done, the thrill is gone.  Have you had a chance to zip ride, to ride on the steepest roller coaster, to skydive, to run with the bulls, to swim with great white sharks, to ice swim, to go white water rafting or to kayak over a waterfall?  As soon as you do....the thrill is gone.  Your first time cannot be lived all over again.  Get a new car and ride around for a month free with no payment...the thrill is gone when you make that first monthly payment.  In card making, if you don't change up with a different sketch, design, bling, color, ink, stamp, etc....the thrill is gone....the thrill is gone away.
Here is my share for today:

How's Your Conscience?

Hello Friends, Followers, and Viewers,
It is one of those days that I can say, it is a good day to have a good day.  Can I get you to agree with me?  How's your conscience at this very moment? Everyone is born with a conscience. God has established in us from the very beginning of our lives a sense of morality that tells us the difference between right and wrong. It is built into the very fabric of our being, but during the course of life something happens to the conscience. The conscience in a person, though created perfect in you to be your moral compass, operates in a corrupted environment . Looking at the condition of our consciences, we can have…a clear conscience, a good conscience, a weak conscience, and a guilty conscience. Our consciences can bear witness, be seared, can be corrupted, and can be cleansed. Only you can answer the question concerning your conscience.  Even when you're trying to fool men, God knows your answer...Acts 24:16, So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man.(Scripture sent to me today from one of my followers).
Here is what I am sharing with you today:
Thinking of You
Enabler's List: white cardstock; DCWV Brooklyn Stack for the patterned paper; Penny Black blooming garden stamp; Hero Arts Thinking of You stamp.

Happy

Enabler's List: American Craft cardstock; Spellbinders Circle dies; Martha Stewart floral stickers; Petaloo textured elements floral embellishment; hand cut tag and heart;
Thanks for coming to visit today.

Be Fearless...Start Somewhere

Hello Friends, Followers, and Viewers,
We made it to Wednesday regardless of what is going on in the world.  Some didn't make it.  As reported by (CNN)—Fighting to stay alive. Mourning the dead. And figuring out why this came to be -- how an Amtrak train could suddenly derail, sending its cars and passengers flying. It seems that every day it is some mode of transportation that causes such destruction.  Let's pray for those struggling to survive, and for the family members who have lost loved ones.
Did you have someone who graduated this past weekend.  We want to say "look out world--here he or she comes"!  What about their coming?  Now that they have that college degree in their hands, what next?  Everyone has to start somewhere. That degree doesn't mean you start all the way at the top.  You may have to push a broom, wash dishes, do various jobs before you land the big one.  Most of your famous people started out very small before they hit it big. The same can be said about the average person like myself.  The main thing is we started and got experience. Pride didn’t get in the way – we had to pay the rent, eat, and work toward our ultimate goals. As college graduates start to learn the realities of the business world,  they have to be fearless and start somewhere.  Hard work is still a requirement for success.

SC540
Enabler's List: black cardstock for the base; Recollections Honeycomb for the mat; Circle cut out of watercolor paper and  watercolors were used  for a distressed look; a piece of pattern paper from DCWV Stack 7  and a piece of patterned paper from DCWV Heirloom Stack was used; Sentiment was computer generated; the ribbon strip came from Recollections yellow gray plaid paper. Technique: followed the sketch provided by Splitcoast Stampers SC540.

Start Somewhere
I basically used the same sketch above but added a faux floral embellishment with die cut flourishes and three faux pearls. The paper  came from Specialty cardstock, DCWV Stack 7; DCWV The School days Stack and black cardstock

Courage is being afraid and Saddling up Anyway
This card came from surfing Pinterest in the fancy fold card section.  I don't have the name for this kind of card.  I made this as a prototype for a card I want to make in the future.  I just wanted to play around with the mats to see what it would look like.  The base is a piece of  cardstock cut at 6" by 11"; scored at 2 3/4,  3 3/4.  7 1/4,  and 8 1/4.  The second mat is a piece of cardstock cut at 5" by 7".  The next mat is cut at  4" by 4".  The last mat is cut at  3 1/2"  by 3 1/2". All patterned paper is cut 1/8" less than mat.  Note ( I will do a tutorial on this at a later date)

Your graduate can't sit around or stay in the bed late everyday. He or she will have to be fearless and get out there to start somewhere and worked their way up to that successful job.  We all did it and they will have to do it also.  Thanks for viewing with me today.
Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

Say It With A Quote

Hello My Friends, Followers and Viewers,
On the National Day Calendar, one of the events for today is National Fibromyalgia Awareness Day.  I'm beginning to meet a lot of people who suffer from fibromyalgia: a musculoskeletal syndrome that may cause some or all of the following: widespread pain, tender points, incapacitating fatigue, anxiety, depression, migraines/chronic headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, irritable bladder, insomnia, hypersensitivity to cold/hot, swelling, fibro fog (inability to concentrate/focus), difficulty remembering, numbness, stiffness, decreased energy, noise, light and odor sensitivity and skin sensitivity.  Today, I'm praying that you feel better than you did yesterday and you can get some things done.
On another note, I was wondering how many of you like quotes?  I always see people posting quotes and I'm always sent quotes to read from other people.  Sometimes I use them when I'm making a card or for my writing prompt for the day.  I used them because they precisely and definitively express what we know, recognize, feel, believe, think, accept, imagine, hope, fear, desire, acknowledge, and/or have experienced as a life truth.  My share includes a quote by an unknown author that floats around on Google and Pintrest.

MOJO397
Quote used for sentiment: "Family like branches on a tree, we all grow in different directions yet our roots remain as one".
Enabler's List: black and white cardstock; patterned paper from Cloud9 Design Specialty cardstock; EK Success punch; Spellbinders circle die; Recollections floral embellishments;  Sketch from  MojoMonday.blogspot.com

Happy Father's Day Dad
Enabler's List: white and brown cardstock; patterned paper from DCWV stack and The Paper Company; vellum; EK Success punch;
People use life, love, funny, cute, famous, inspirational quotes as well as those for change and to live by.  What's your favorite quote?  I would love to know.  You may see me use it on a card in the future.
Thanks for spending a little time with me today.  You are always welcomed to leave a comment.

My Color is Beautiful

Hello Friends, Followers and Viewers.
Happy Monday.  I hope your celebratory Mother's Day weekend was fantastic.  I had a great time and really enjoyed all that happened.  After the celebration,  I sat down to make a card and wanted to create a watercolor distress looking background to go behind a large diecut mat. I used watercolors purple and pink along with Mustard Seed, and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks to create the watercolor background.  I used my Cricut Explore to cut the mat and the word "celebrate" in the Design Space. I used black cardstock to make the color pop a little more.
I totally love how the watercolor-distressed look turned out! Sometimes you just never know how it will look–if it will create pretty colors, or just a muddy mess. Thankfully, this one turned out really cool looking! :) If you don't agree, I think my color is beautiful!
Thanks for viewing with me today.  If you have questions, please put them in the comment section and I'll get back with you.

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

You're In My Prayers

Hello Friends, Followers, and Viewers,
Wishing everyone a most glorious and happy weekend.  Some of us need your prayers due to issues that went on this week.  You may have lost a loved one or you may have found yourself in the hospital during this week.  You may not be feeling well and you're lonely.  So many things that calls for the need of prayer.  There is nothing more powerful than a faith-filled prayer...It has the grace to comfort the soul and the strength to move a mountain.  There are times in our lives when our hearts need encouragement, our faith needs nurtured, and our souls need the comfort of a friend in prayer.  I'm praying for you today and asking the LORD to reassure your heart of how much He cares about all you are going through.  God cares right down to the last detail.
Because of my busy schedule today the two cards I'm sharing are called clean and simple cards.  No extra frills.  The first one with the three flowers is really a prototype.  I used some paper flowers from way, way, down in my stash (I've been wanting to put them in the trash and out of the stash...lol). The second card with the butterfly is the left over piece of cardstock after I used a die cut. Voila!

Thanks for stopping in today.  Be blessed my friends, followers and viewers.  Come back again.
Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois
