"Rough STORMS"

Hello friends, visitors, followers and viewers.
Guess how many days you have before your long weekend or long week.  Most jobs will let you off for the week of JULY 4th.  Yes, that's correct!  I know of some people that will work tomorrow and will not return to their job until July 11th.  Is that awesome or not?
In the mean time, let's see what I've been up to this morning.

How rough are the storms you've been having?  Are the winds so rough that trees are falling down?  Is the rain so heavy that you're having a flood in your community? Is your health storm  keeping you in and out of the hospital or on your bed of affliction?   Is the storm  another family member passing away in less than a month.  Last year this happened in our family, but a family just this week in my neighborhood, is going through another sister passing away.  They had just had a funeral for one of the sisters in May and now they are planning another one.
Storms are and can be rough...therefore we need to know where our anchor(s) are.
When the wind blow 60 or more miles per hour, do you pray or coward in fear?
When the waters start rising, do you pray or coward in fear?
When you are in the hospital or on your sick bed, do you pray or coward in fear?
When your family members are leaving you behind , do you pray or coward in fear?
You may be one who have not had a rough storm to go through....keep living my friend...there is one out there for you:

Enabler's List for this card
cardstock: Recollection blue and black
specialty paper: Ranger watercolor paper and a sheet of vellum
inks: water colors (yellow, pink, dark blue and light blue) and Hero Arts black pigment
embellishments: silver brads
stamp: Prima, Seashore clear stamp and ART C stamp and cut
Technique: I colored the background to look like the open sea on the water colored paper. Next I stamped the boats in various places.  The sentiment was printed on the vellum, cut down to fit over the top of the Ranger water colored cardstock and then adhered together using the silver brads.  I  cut out two silver anchors and adhered them to the vellum using a sliver brad. This layer was adhered to the black cardstock before adhering it to the blue card base.

"Botanic Orchid Card...A Gift of LOVE"

Good Wednesday friends, followers, visitors and viewers.  Are you counting down for the holiday festivities?  Ready for the fireworks and parades?  We are...but we have to wait  until July 4th along with all other people.
I opened my heartfelt  creation paper pad and decided on doing another card from this paper collection.  Since I have some other things to do that are more important today, I thought I would do something that wouldn't require a lot of time.  Here, take a look at this simple, come together card, just using this paper collection:

This card was made with the following supplies:
cardstock: Neenah white; Recollection pink; Heartfelt creations Botanic Orchid Collection
image and sentiment: Heartfelt creations Botanic Orchid Collection
punch: Martha Stewart deep edge...daisy lace
embossing folder: Sizzix fall leaves
embellishments: Studio 112 adhesive gems

Easy as 1,2,3 at least for me.
Thanks for viewing...come again.

"Using Acetate"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers on this rainy Tuesday.
You may be experiencing really good weather where you are and I hope you're enjoying it. For some of us, on a rainy day, we will be enjoying a good movie while still in bed.  I'm not that kind of person.  For me, rainy weather makes for a good crafting day. Do you agree?
I've used a piece of acetate on my card today.  I had all intentions of doing the "smooching" method with some distress inks and water on a piece of cardstock....but....while looking through  Scrapbook &  Collage Papers, The European Collection by TweetyJill Publications, I saw a sheet of paper that looked like what I wanted to accomplish.  Therefore, I placed the acetate over the top of it and created a frame (blue Recollection cardstock) over the top of the acetate and the design paper..  Going a little further, I added the Spellbinders Romantic vine die cut (Neenah white cardstock) on top of the acetate and three blue Prima flowers on top of the die cut.  It still looked like it needed just a little more embellishment, so out of some distressed paper, I die cut three butterflies to add.  I used "thinking of you" stamp from Hero Arts with black Hero Arts pigment ink  and the stitched circle die from Our Daily Bread design to cut it out.  Here is what the card looks like:
Front view

Side View
I've seen some other ideas that I want to try....today is a good day to try those ideas since we are having rain in our area.  Can't get outside to play so I'll play inside with some crafting material.
Have fun in whatever you decide to do today.  Come again!

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"Especially For You!

Hello friends, visitors, followers and viewers on this gorgeous Friday.
Last work day for the week and some of us are heading to the beach.  Some are going shopping.  Some are staying home to clean the house.  Some are still working.  What's in your plans for this weekend?  Whatever you are doing...do it good and enjoy yourself.
Has anyone ever given you something and said...it's especially for you?  You think you're the only person with this special gift or this gift fits your personally in some way or the other.  However, you find out that the same person who gave you this gift also gave one just like it to someone else and repeated those same words...especially for you!
Here is a card that is using those words...Especially for You!  What is written to the person on the inside of this card is strictly for that person and no one else.  It wouldn't be for you if you're not celebrating a 65th birthday.  It wouldn't be for you if you're not on the mend from surgery.  It wouldn't be for you if you're not going through a difficult time.
The card can say "especially for you" but what is written on the inside will be especially for you...it will be a private message that only you can respond to.
Enabler's List
cardstock; black Recollection; Neenah white and design paper from Scrapbook & Collage The European Collection
dies: CottageCutz Build-A-Grapevine Wreath and Our Daily Bread stitched rectangle die

Thanks so much for your viewing time today....come again!

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"Using A Punch To Make A Background"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.   We are almost there...one more day and whatever plans you have for weekend fun...just one more work day before it happens.
Punches, not to knock you out , but for creating backgrounds for your cards.  Have you ever taken them to the next level.
For several weeks, I've been looking at my supplies in different ways.  Can they be used for more than the purpose we buy them for?
The two cards I created today were design with the background first and the topper last. I played around with adhering my punched pieces to the top of my cardstock. On one of the cards, after adding the punched pieces, I also added a border frame around it:
Neenah white cardstock with  design paper from Heartfelt Creation Botanic Orchid and black Recollection cardstock for matting on the sentiment
Recollections clear stamp jar  with silver embossing powder.
Martha Stewart double edge punch...vine stem
SandyLion Essentials flower stickers

Neenah white and Recollection black cardstock
Heartfelt Creation Botanic Orchid design paper
Little B Moroccan punch with gold ribbon weaved throughout
Michael's flowers with Spellbinders Romantic vines die cut.

Thanks for stopping by to view today.  Hope you'll looking at your  supplies in a different way.

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"First Time Using a Card Kit"

Hello Friends, Followers, Visitors and Viewers.
Welcome to Wednesday....you may be wondering how you made it to the middle of the week.  It was just Monday and with a blink...here it is, Wednesday.  If you hang around a little while longer it is going to be Christmas and you just may miss your summer vacation.
How many of you have ever used a card kit?  Those boxes or papers in which you punch out, or cut out the picture and adhere it to a card front.  That project that doesn't require you to do a lot of thinking.  Some kits come with everything you need including the steps to make the card.  Punch, fold, glue and your project is ready to be displayed.
I watched a craft show that comes on TV called "Create and Craft".  This show sells products and will show you a demonstration of how to use the products they are selling.  I knew my granddaughter would be coming for a visit during her summer break so I ordered something she could play with in the card making category....a card kit from this show ( Hunkydory Garden Secrets ).  I also ordered the 12 by 12 cardstock from Heartfelt Creation.

Here are three cards that I made from these kits:
!st Card made with Heartfelt Creation  Botanic Orchid cardstock.  In the collection you can cut out a topper and individual pieces to make a card.  The bible verse came from WordartWednesday.blogspot.com.    I am going to enter this card in their Challenge Weeks #236-237 - Anything Goes

2nd Card is a Diorama Card made from the Hunkydory Garden Secrets card collection.  I had to try this before giving the remainder of this kit to my granddaughter. I think she will love the fold, punch, glue method of making a card or some cards when she comes to visit.  Grandma had to check it out to see if it was as easy as the TV show said it was.  If you look at the fourth picture, you'll see that there are several parts that have to be punched and adhered to the base and lined up to match.  I'll be helping my granddaughter with this technique.  The kit has two other Diorama cards in it.

3rd Card also came from the Hunkydory Garden Secrets card collection.  This was very simple to achieve.  This one was really a fold, punch and glue technique.  Much, much easier than the diorama card.  I don't see where she will have any problems making cards like this.

I enjoyed the process of putting these cards together.  The first one could have been easier if I didn't use the step card.  The Diorama card required  more time and precision than the others.  The 3rd card was very very easy.

***I am not getting paid to promote any of these items neither were they given to me to use and review....I can only wish.

Thanks for viewing.  If you have any questions about these three cards I will be able to answer them for you.
Sending you  a hug  and LOVE,
Lois

"Two Cute Cards"

Good Tuesday morning,  friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
Great day to you and to all you do and will be doing on this day.  I'm just sharing some fun cards I made today.
I'll tell you how the "What's In Your Cup?" came to being created: Three things inspired this creation. (1) The Summer Coffee Lovers Challenge that is going on ( I saw several cards from bloggers on yesterday featuring their cards for this challenge).
(2) A new Spellbinders die (Victorian Fan) that I had not used...I started cutting it out in white to see what it would look like. While looking for some paper , I saw a stripe piece of MME paper in green, pink, brown and white.  I had already cut out the die in white and this piece of  paper inspired me to cut it out in the pink, green and brown to go along with the white.
(3) A commercial featuring Samuel Jackson played on the TV while I was cutting out my die cuts...This is where I had a "light bulb" effect.   Instead of "what's in your wallet", I thought I would use "What's In Your Cup" for a sentiment .  I knew I had a piece of scrapbook paper with some cups on it  (Colorbok Signature Greetings paper pad).  I fussy cut out some of the cups to use on my card.  Here is the three inspirations coming together to form this card:
My next fun, cute card is just using red, white and blue.  July Fourth is right around the corner and I just wanted to make this card using those colors.  It was inspired by Hero Arts Operation Write Home clear stamp set.  I cut a white piece from Neenah cardstock (4  x 5 inches).  Using a pencil, ruler and craft knife, I drew lines in a diagonal fashion and cut out every other one to form the background for this card.  A red piece of Recollection cardstock was use as a mat for the diagonal cut piece (4 1/8  x  5 1/8 inches).  The stars and sentiment came from the Hero Arts  stamp.  The stars were stamped on blue and red paper using Ranger clear Emboss It ink.  Then, they were sprinkled with white embossing powder,  heat embossed, cut out and placed in various places on the card.

Two fun, cute cards made for your viewing for today...Hope you enjoyed your view.  Come again.  Remember, I always love hearing from you.

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"Being Partial"

Hello my friends, followers, visitors and viewers. Welcome to the beginning of another week!  I hope that you all enjoyed your Father's Day weekend and that you got to spend some time with family!
You know I'm always surfing around for new ideas to try and I saw one that perked my interest.
There is no name for this, at least not from me.  I just liked what I saw and tried my hands at it..."partial coloring and partial die cutting".  I just had to try out this technique.  I'm really happy with how this turned out.
I started with a piece of Neenah white cardstock cut at  4" x 5 2/8".  I used the Our Daily Bread double stitched rectangle to die cut the panel but placed tape on the back to keep it together.  I cut another panel from the white cardstock at 4 1/8 "  x  3" and used another double stitched die on that piece...again using tape to keep it together.  I placed the smaller panel on top of the larger panel and stamped the flower image.  The smaller panel was colored with American Craft pens.  Sequins were added for embellishments.

On this card, I cut a 5 x 3 3/4 piece of Ranger water color paper.  I stamped the butterfly image "partially" at the top left and bottom right .  The double stitched rectangle die was used to cut out part of the card.  This time, I separated the piece and matted it with black Recollection cardstock before adhering it back to the card with foam dots.  I used American Craft pens to color the butterfly, partially.

I used a rectangle die on  both of these cards but you could also use a square, circle or whatever shape you want to use in your panel with what ever kind of layering dies you like to use.

I hope you enjoyed your view today.  Come back and visit again.

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"Fresh Eyes On Your Supplies"

Hello Friends, Followers, Visitors, and Viewers.
We made it to Friday.  Some of my crafty friends are having some difficulties with their health and were not able to post as often this week.  I'm wishing them a speedy recovery so they can get back to something they love to do.
I've seen the Rainbow Challenge going on.  Many bloggers are getting in the game with this one as well as our nation responding to the hateful act in Orlando FL.  People are changing their Facebook pages in support of the families.
Have you thought about politicians changing the gun law reform?  I don't intend for you to answer my blog on this question...I was just wondering.  My husband and I have discussed this on just about every time a large number of people have been killed or hurt by assault rifles.
We may need a fresh thought on "who can" and "how can" guns be handled in this country.

For today's share, I've been following a series that helps you to look differently at your scrapbook or card making supplies.  I've been looking at my embossing folders with a pair of fresh eyes.
I used a Darice folder with perfect pearls last week to create a 3D effect.  I told you I would be trying it again.  This is a different Darice folder with 3D effect.  You need to emboss the folder at least 3 times...cut out parts of the embossed image...color them in different colors....use foam dots or tape to raise the parts up.  On this card, I cut a piece from my embossed focal image and added a pattern paper piece behind it.  I picked two of the flowers on the folder to make my 3D effect.  I used Pebbles Pearlescent Chalks to paint my flowers and parts of the card.

This card  is  my own design.  I did use an embossing folder from the Paper Studio on a bluish gold piece of cardstock from Hunkydory.  I cut out various parts of the cardstock in no particular pattern on the embossed piece.  When I got to this step...it looked good enough to add a piece of cardstock behind the cut out and then I had to decide what to do with it.  The bubbles reminded me of an ocean or water, so I pulled out the fish stickers....cut out some small branches using a Martha Stewart die and viola`...there you have it.....a card that I have no idea what sentiment to add to it.

Thanks for visiting today.  Have a save an enjoyable weekend.
Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"More Inking and Stamping"

Hi Friends, Followers, Visitors and Viewers.
I'm thankful I'm here with you on this rainy Thursday in my part of the world.
I'm continuing to dabble in inks, embossing powder and stencils today.  To be honest with you, it is something I was doing on Tuesday evening after my post with the watercolor and the distress ink cards.  I had some free time, so, I continued to play  since I had the inks out on my work area.
I pulled out a stencil with the intention of doing a mix media project but immediately changed my mind and went with the distress inks.  The pattern looked just okay...nothing fancy until I decided to pull out an embossing folder to see if I could enhance the design.
Life is Art ...paint your Dreams
Enabler's List
cardstock: Neenah white and Black Recollection....I used a piece of Neenah white to distress on for both the card and the tag.
inks: Tim Holtz distress inks
embossing folder from Cuttlebug and
stencil from Recollections Mixed Media...the design on the tag was done with the eraser part of a pencil and using a die that imitates chicken wire.

The idea for this second card is using stamps for the focal area.  Let's call it stamping and beyond.

hello, hello, hello, hello there!  Wishing you joy
Enabler's List
cardstock: Recollection pink and black and Neenah white
inks: Tim Holtz distress inks and silver embossing powder
stamp: Hampton Art jillibean soup handwritten sentiments and Sizzix Hero Arts textured impressions
Recollection flower

Thanks for viewing with me today.  I love hearing from you when you make a comment.  It helps me to continue to move forward with my love of crafting.

"Is It Watercolor or Distress Inks...Can You Tell?"

Hello Friends, Visitors, Viewers and Followers.
It's another great day to do something good for someone else in your neighborhood.
What do you have in mind?   Grass cutting...washing windows...fixing the fence...weeding the flower or vegetable garden...taking someone to the grocery store...cooking a meal... cleaning the house or just a room in the house...calling to check up on the individual.
Whatever you  do, your kindness will not go unnoticed.  Don't expect the person to repay you...just do it from the love in your heart.  Make someone's day better than they expected it to be.
Now, for the question I'm asking...can you tell if a piece of paper has been water colored or was distress inks  used to color it?
Take a look at this picture and see if you can tell?
***this is two different cards....I took the photo of both cards side by side so you can decide which is water colored and which is distressed with inks.
Ready for the reveal?

FLY
cardstock: Neenah white, Recollection dark green and black; Ranger water color paper

stamps used: Tim Holtz Visual Artistry and Recollection Mixed Medial
Challenge Entry: wordartwednesday.blogspot.com Challenge Weeks #234-235 - Anything Goes

Believe
cardstock: Neenah white, Recollection dark green and black; Ranger water color paper
stamps used: My Art C stamps and Stampology  Fancy Flourishes
Sticker: Studio 112 spotted canary

Here is the technique used:
On "FLY" the paper was water colored...on "Believe" the technique was with Tim Holtz's distress inks
I know my iPad didn't do justice to the images but the original shows the distress inks being more vibrant than the water colors.
However, this little lady loves both techniques.
Watercolor or distressing....what's in your craft room?

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"BTW...What's An Aperture Card?"

Hello Friends, Followers, Visitors and Viewers on this gorgeous Monday.
We had a fab weekend just enjoying the beautiful weather and being in the company of some great friends.
My "Sunshine" (granddaughter for those who don't know) was so excited because her regular school closed down and she is headed to camp today before spending a few days with me in July.  I teased her and said I wanted to go to camp and her reply was "grandma" you're too old to come to my camp...you have to find another one to go to (hahahaha...I'm too old for her camp so I guess I'll look for a crafting camp to go to...for people my age).
What's an aperture card?
Definition of aperture:  an opening, such as a hole, gap, slit, slot, vent, crevice, crack, chink, or interstice .  When making a greeting card...it would be the area you want your focus.
ScrapsofColor has a First and Third Challenge - June 5, 2016 through June 17, 2016.  You have to make an aperture card.
Enabler's List
Neenah white; Recollection pink and blue cardstock
Ranger watercolor paper with the use of a dylusions stencil and gesso
Hunkydory The Little Book of The Orient image
Spellbinders heart die
On this card the aperture is the heart

Enabler's List
Neenah white cardstock and a scrap piece from paper stash bin
Our Daily Bread Rectangle stitch die; Avery Elle Dotted Borders Die; Spellbinders Romantic Vine die; Sizzix TH thinlits script die
Martha Stewart butterfly
Aperture is the slit cut next to the butterfly.

It is so sad that our world has to experience the violence and hatred that goes on.  Praying for the families who lost love ones in Florida and all around the world.  God is Good and His Mercy Will Endure Forever!

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"How About A Quickie?"

Hello Friends, Followers, Visitors, and Viewers.
I'm ready, what about you?
Get your head out of the sand my friends, I'm referring to the weekend.  I know you looked at that title and went "hummmmm"....didn't you?  Not today...it's Friday.  What I had in mind is my share for today.  Most of the time, I make preparation and have an idea as to how I want to create something.  If it is something I've never tried before, I'll practice and if the practice piece looks okay, then that is what you see.  However, on some days (like today)...I want to share something but I'm clueless and  I start looking at things that are already cut out to see if they can go together by color, similarity or the ease of the project.  That is where my interpretation of a "quickie", (quick·ie      /ˈkwikē/      a thing done or made quickly or hastily, in particular)  especially on a day like today came in.  I wanted to share, but it would have to be done quick because of something else I need to get done:

These are all things that I have in a bin that I call my stash.  They are things that have been cut out but were never used or things I cut out for a project and they didn't work that well for that particular project.  The only things that were not in this stash were the flowers used.  On the top card, I've used a flower from a Recollection pack.  On the bottom card, I've used a Sandy Lion Essential sticker flower.  The base is the traditional 4.25  x 5.5 inch with mats cut 1/8 inch less than the base.  The first card has a piece from my stash that came from Colorbok Signature Greetings paper pad.  The second card's focal is the embossing folders that were used.

Weekends are made to relax, have fun and do some things you couldn't do during the week because of your job.
This is the last day of school for this year...hello summer vacation and camp for the kids.

Be good to yourself.  Enjoy your view wherever you go this weekend and thanks for viewing here today.
Please come again!!!

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"ORANGE You Glad I Used My Least Favorite Color"

Hello to Wednesday...hump day and to all my Friends, Followers, Visitors and Viewers.
A night of calm without thunder and lightning...A day of sunshine and loving every minute of it.
My cards are finished...yes, cards!  This gives me a lot of time to go outside and dig in my flowers, take a walk and just enjoy the beautiful weather.  What are you planning if you are having beautiful weather?  Will you be attending the annual Pork Festival in Emporia, VA?
Here, they will be having their annual festival and serving pork in all the ways it can be cooked along with music and drinks. This starts at 4 PM...come on out   (there is plenty for you to eat and drink)!
I posted before on this blog  about not liking orange as a favorite color. It has to me toned down and used with some other colors in order for me to appreciate its beauty. I should be saying "I don't like brassy orange (the all up in your face orange, orange).  The color I used for my projects today can be tolerated ....I can and did  use it, otherwise it wouldn't be on these cards (LOL):
Enabler's List:
cardstock: Colorbok kraft ; Recollection Trader Jane and Ranger watercolor
water color paints: yellow and orange
stamp: Fiskars' For the Birds
ink: Hampton Art pigment black

Enabler's List
Cardstock: Colorbok kraft; Kanban gold; Recollection black
DP: Recollection Trader Jane
die: Paper Smooches glasses and Our Daily Bread double stitched circles
sentiment: computer generated
Challenge: Mojo Monday 451 Contest

Enabler's List
cardstock: Colobok kraft; Recollection black and DP from Recollections Trader Jane
A piece of cardboard was also used to cut out the heart using a Spellbinders heart die.
Stars were hand cut.
Sentiment was computer generated

This was a fun, fantastic way to use my least favorite color...maybe I'll learn to embrace all the variations of it (orange).  For now, thank you for viewing and come again!

Sending you a hug and LOVE,

"Beyond Embossing"

Hello Friends, Followers, Visitors and Viewers.
It's beautiful outside my window this morning after another round of night storms.  We may have a full day of sunshine to dry up some of the water.  It is all good and I'm quite sure before the summer is over, we're going to need all of this water and some more.
Have you taken another look at some of the embossing folders you have?  Can you imagine how to use them above and beyond your normal usage of them?  My usual routine:  I take the folder out of the package, embossed a piece of cardstock and probably layered an image on top of the embossed piece.
Today, I took out one of my embossing folders and saw where I could emboss it several times,  cut out pieces, color the pieces different colors and then layer them back together.  It created a beautiful effect for the specific folder I was using.  I'm going to try this technique with some other folders later.

Here are pictures of the front and side-view of the card I made.

Here are the products I used to achieve the look of the card: Darice Embossing folder and bronze cardstock.

Enabler's List
This Darice folder was chosen along with this bronze cardstock (3 pieces).
I embossed the cardstock using this folder three times...one for the base and two to cut up and paint.
Perfect Pearls  in forever green, forever red and forever blue were used to color the various pieces that were cut out.
Foam tape was used on the back of each piece to layer the shape back together.
A gold permanent chalk maker was also used on the circle areas.
The sentiment came from Recollections color splash stamp and stencil.

Challenge entry:  http:www.outlawschallenges.ning.com.... Greetings Challenge - Embossing "Wet" or "Dry" GCC060616

Hope you enjoyed your view and will look at your embossing folders differently.  Give this technique a try...I'm sure you will like it.

Sending you a hug and Love,
Lois

"Just Sharing"

Hello Friends, Followers, Visitors and Viewers.
I'm glad we made it to Monday after all the storms and winds that blew our way.  It's not over according to the weather prediction...more is on the way for this evening.    Be safe and take the necessary precautions offered to you if you are in the path of these dangerous storms.
I'm posting two cards that I put together.  I used distress inks and white embossing powder on one of the cards and the other simply has a sentiment surround by Prima flowers and floral vines cut from Spellbinders' Romantic Vines die.  Nothing so special that you couldn't copy and reproduce yourself.  Today, I'm just sharing...

Thanks for viewing....have a good and prosperous day in whatever you are trying to accomplish!

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"Coloring...distress inks and watercolor"

Happy Thursday to my friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
I wanted to get a little inky today and use distress inks and watercolors.  Nothing fancy or out of the ordinary.  Sometimes you have to find the kid in yourself and relax by coloring.  It is the norm for most adults today...going back to that childhood love of coloring.
At first I took out the pencils to color an image I recently won from another blog...immediately put that down to save for a later date.  Then, I took my Ranger water color paper and decided on something a little "mute" because I knew I wanted to add a stamped image on top of it.  After I finish that project I was pulling out scrapbook paper for something else I saw on Pinterest (always finding new and neat ideas).  It was directions on changing a not so beautiful piece of paper into something "extraordinary"....I fell fast into this project...all I needed was a piece of cardstock that I didn't think was beautiful or as the article stated, your "ugliest paper"and distress inks of your choice.
Take a look at what I made for today's viewing:
I am always Here for you
cardstock: Neenah white; Recollection black and burgundy and Ranger watercolor paper
water color paints: yellow, pink and mint green
stamp: Penny Black's blooming garden and Recollections clear stamps (sentiment)
Akashiya Sai Watercolor Brush Pen (red and green)
pop dots
Hampton Arts glitter glue

You Bring Color To My Life
Take a look to the right of this card...do you see the sheet of cardstock in the back of it?  That cardstock was cut down to size for this card.  I used distress inks (abandon coral, evergreen bough, and fossilized amber) to color this piece of cardstock.  Other cardstock used was: Neenah white; Recollection black and raspberry.  Handmade Modern sequins (butterflies) were used.  The corner  doily die cut is from Trim craft First Edition Craft dies.

Thanks again for you time, love and comments.  You really do bring color to my life!!

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"Rolling From The Middle"

Happy Day to all my Friends, Followers, Visitors and Viewers.
I like to search new things to increase my knowledge and in the crafting area to try something new.  I'm forever looking on Pinterest, Google and other crafting sites for ideas and information.  Over the weekend I saw a card that had rolled edges that started from the middle of the card.  I had just completed a card with almost the same thing except the edges were not rolled, they were left flat.  To complete a card like this requires  double-sided cardstock or paper...I found myself limited in this area or should I say I didn't have any double sided paper that appeal to my color of choice.  I kept going through my paper bin searching for something that would coordinate together so I could try this technique at least once.
Here is the result.

Both sheets of cardstock had pink and mauve as the focal color. One layer was cut 1/8 inch shorter than the other.  I measured to find the center point from the top down and from the side.  Both pieces of cardstock was cut to the center point.  I rolled the cardstock (using a pencil) from the center out to form a "V" shape.  The ribbon was adhered from the center point around both pieces of the cardstock on the opposite side.  Faux gem flourishes and Prima flowers were used to highlight the rolled edges. I cut out "hope" using the Tim Holtz's thinlit script die and placed it in the far bottom on the right hand side.
Not bad for my first try. What do you think?

I wanted to have a little fun with an image that came out of Hunkydory The Second Little Book of Decoupage.
(1) I cut the image into three sections...(2)layered them on top of black Recollection cardstock...(3)adhered all three pieces on top of a light blue piece of cardstock from Recollection before placing it on the Neenah white base.

Thanks for taking a moment of your time to view my post today.

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois
