"Paper Layering With A Few Embellishments"

Good Morning to All.
It's here for all who celebrate...Halloween.
I hope you proceed with caution when you go out this evening or even during the day.  Mean spirited people take this opportunity to do ugly things to the kids as well as to the adults....just be extra, extra careful.
I have to go out this morning, so this is another short and sweet posting.
It was easy to gather some coordinating papers together and do a layout.  I added a few embellishments so the card wouldn't look so plain.  The joke of the day is...I couldn't  do this without adding some "ORANGE" here and there to go along with Autumn and Halloween....lol  my peeps.

"Orange Is My New Color...Just For Today"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
Welcome back from a glorious, fantastic weekend.
I went browsing but did not get anything.  We just took the opportunity to enjoy some time away from the house.
I did go into Michaels to see what I could buy.  I walked around the display of Halloween items with 70% off for about fifteen minutes.  I don't make a lot of Halloween cards, therefore my thought was should I just get something because of the seventy percent off or should I just leave everything where it was.  I picked up a stamp set and put it down.  I held up a container with black and orange ribbon and put that back down also.  The Martha Stewart paper pad was tempting but I couldn't think of anything beyond Halloween to use it for.  Autumn is a nice time of the year but I don't do a lot of cards in this range either.  Soooooooo, I bought NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING out of this store!  I even surprised myself.
This morning, I pulled out some burnt orange cardstock to make a card that focused on the color orange...(this color on a card is rarely seen by me).  Since it will be Halloween tomorrow and this is the Autumn season...this card will blend in with the many others floating around on the internet. I'll include it in the "cards for soldiers" box.

Designer Paper: DCWV Safari Chick Stack
Stamp: Hero Arts Operation Write Home
dies: Sizzix poinsettia die; Spellbinders foliage; Tattered Lace Opulent Over the Edge

Maybe its time to stop buying craft items and start all over again making my old stuff new stuff.  I have punches I haven't used in a very long, long time.  I need to find a new use for them.  Stamps from CTMH that came with  Cricut cartridges I bought, also need to be used.
I'm happy I came out of Michaels and left all of the crafting supplies in the store.

"Peace Hope Love"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers on this beautiful morning.
It's October 27, 2017 and it's also Friday...
We are ending our work week, our vacation week (Sunshine and her family) and retirement week.
"Sunshine" (granddaughter), spent this week in LA, California with her parents.  Her school was on Fall Break.  While out there, she sent me a picture of her name in the "Sidewalk Walk of Fame" and her trophy.  Most of my peers and friends who are still working, are looking forward to a two day break.  Nine or more weeks with the classroom screams for a weekend break.  I'm retired and I need a weekend break.

Because it's Friday...this lady usually looks into her box of stash goodies to challenge herself to make a card.
Take a look at some of the things I took out of my box this morning:

and

The die cuts have been previously cut out and saved. They were adhered on top of a piece of white cardstock for the focal image.   The only thing that required some work today...I cut out the layers to adhere to the card base and added the gems.

Enabler's List:
cardstock: Neenah white; red Bazzill
Designer Paper: Recollections Christmas Noel; Graphic 45 The Olde Curiosity Shoppe
dies: Spellbinders As Tranquil Moments; Spellbinders Nestabilities; Spellbinders foliage
embellishments: Recollections flowers; Prima flowers; Studio G adhesive gems
tools: big shot black die/embossing machine; Fiskars paper trimmer; Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive; Tim Holtz scissors;

Have an enjoyable weekend.  Do something fun and exciting.
Come back again and don't forget...your comments are appreciated.

"It's Still October...What About That Mammogram?"

Hello to all on this Thursday, October 26, 2017.
We are nearing the end of October. According to my calendar, there are three more days to get a mammogram done if you've never had one.  If this is something you've done before, the office will be sending you a reminder.  Grant it...the majority of people have this testing done throughout the year and not necessary in October for breast cancer awareness month.  We who have had cancer or know of others who have had cancer just want you to go and get yourself checked out.  Early prevention or detection has proven to save more lives than ever.  I promise that this is the last post for October dealing with this topic.  I intend to move on to something else.

Another area of testing...your vision.  We have to keep those eyes up to par also.  This lady is having her eyes done today.  So enjoy the card she made before going to her appointment...
I don't have time for any extra information.  Looking at the card, I've used paper from Scrapbook & Collage Papers; Recollections tan and brown cardstock; Offray ribbon and flower stickers.

Thanks for viewing.  Have an enjoyable day.

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"Word Art Wednesday"

Good Wednesday, October 25, 2017 to my friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
It's hump day, hump day!!!  It's also a great day to get involved with whatever your heart desire.
I hope that before you really started your day you took some time to get into the  WORD.
Reading a portion of scripture to have something to meditate on every day is my number one thing.  I feel that connection with the one who created me and loved me enough to provide for me while I'm still on this Earth and when I meet HIM in glory one day.
I really can't start my day without prayer and reading scripture.
This card was made specifically to go into my Scripture Journal...  I follow Maymaymadeit.com and I created a "Hide His Word In My Heart" journal at the beginning of this year (heART Scripture Art Journal).  Most of my scripture cards have been added to this journal.  This is another addition:
This will also be used as an entry for http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com

"You're The Best"

Good Tuesday to my friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
A very short and sweet post for you today.  I'm off to do something else and thought I would share something short and sweet.
I was trying out a design that I saw on Pinterest and instead of doing a Christmas card, I made an all occasion card.  It is always nice to have some of these on hand when you need to compliment someone.   The design is mostly squares on top of squares.  You have to decide what measurement you want for your squares...then add a 1/8 inch large square background behind it.
My top square is 3 x 3.  The blue swirly square is 3.25 x 3.25 (3 1/4  by 3 1/4).  The bottom square is 3.5 x 3.5 ( 3 1/2 by 3 1/2). They all have been increased by 1/8 inch using the black cardstock for layering behind it.  The last square will determine your card base.  My base is 5.5 by 5.5.  I enhanced the rest of the card by adding more layers.
I've stamped and lightly colored the Arianna blooms and added pieces of  3D flourish  between some of the flowers.  I used Studio g gems in the middle of each flower.

Enabler's List:
Cardstock: Recollections teal and black cardstock; Neenah white cardstock;
Design Paper; Hunkydory
embossing folder; Spellbinders M-Bossabilities EL-006 mystic
stamp: Heartfelt Creation Arianna bloom
die: Spellbinders squares
tools: Fiskars cutter; Nuvo glue; red line tape

Today, I'm making another card for my "Cards for Soldiers" box.  This organization accept cards throughout the year for our overseas troops.  At this time of the year, my contact person is constantly asking for cards and is encouraging us to tell anyone who can help out to do so.   Here is the address if you have some cards to donate:

"I'm Just Thinking Of You"

Hi everyone on this Thursday, October 18, 2017.
How are you doing today?  Are you feeling great?  Are medical issues effecting you and have you "down and out"?  Are you bursting with so much joy that you're passing it on to others?  Are you feeling the same as you felt last week?
If you haven't heard from a person in a couple of days do you contact them to see if they are okay?
Do you let the absence drag on for days or weeks not really stopping to find out what is wrong or what is happening with a person?
Then, all of a sudden, the thought of that person cannot go away.
There are a lot of you, my blog friends, that constantly connect with me either daily or at least once a week.  When you stop responding, then I start wondering what is happening. If you're missing in action for more than two weeks then, I will go to your blog and write a note to let you know that I'm Thinking About You.
Things happen so quickly...one day you're here and the next day you're not.
The thought of some people that I haven't heard from prompted the making of this card today.  However, I'm sharing it collectively for them and then it will go in the box for "Cards For Soldiers".

"Christmas...Again!"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
We saw our first frost this morning.  It was another cold, chilly start for this Wednesday, October 18, 2017.  There was no question about flipping the thermostat this morning.  The temp was colder than yesterday.
On yesterday I presented to you a shadow box Christmas card.  I'm glad many of you enjoyed your view.
Items that I pulled out yesterday and didn't get put away, prompted another Christmas card for today.  (I still have many to make for my large family and friends).
I have a lady at my church (83) who loves to sing.  Each year she has looked forward to a card with a hymn representing the "season of joy".  I thought of her this morning and made this card for her:

"Shadow Box Christmas Card?"

Happy Tuesday, October 17, 2017.
I'm very chilly this morning with temps in my area coming in below 50 degrees.  We will warm up to about 65 degrees today.   Yes, summer is really over.  For me, it seems as if we went from summer to winter overnight.  It is time to move some plants inside because of the temps.  It's all over...summer ...not unless I move to a warmer climate for the winter and come back home when it is summer again.
Maybe this is the reason I decided to do another Christmas card this morning.  My body feels as if it is really, really cold outside with snow in the forecast.
(This is a side joke or laugh...DH told me to go outside and stand in the sun for a little while and maybe I'll feel as if it is still summer...  He is a character that needed a good laugh himself this morning).
Here is my share with you.
I'm admiring shadow box cards.  A craft show that comes on the TV...Create and Craft...has been showing a lot of shadow boxes recently.  I've also researched the ones on Google and Pinterest.  Today, I made an attempt at making one:
and

Enabler's List:
cardstock: Neenah white; Recollections black; Ranger watercolor paper
inks: Distress Oxide broken china; Distress Oxide black soot; Distress Oxide faded jeans
dies: Sizzix woodlands; Cottage Cuts Christmas Winter Night; Echo Park Reindeer Sleigh Die Set
embellishment: Stickles glitter glue
Big Shot machine
foam tape
Nuvo glue

Get those Christmas cards ready.  October is almost over and November will be a blink.
Try making a shadow box card...they aren't that hard to do and they look so 3D.

Thanks for coming and I hope you enjoyed the view from your place today.

"Gratitude Check"

Happy Monday, October 16, 2017.
Hello to my crafty friends and others who just may stumble upon this blog by mistake or by someone else's invitation.
It's National Boss's Day for those of you who aren't your own boss.  What will you do for them to make them feel "special"?

"Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings."
-- William Arthur Ward

Gratitude is the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
For many people, gratitude is difficult, because life is difficult.  With all that is happening in the world ....natural and manmade disasters (hurricanes, Las Vegas, wildfires, politics, and more)...can you be grateful?

Yes, you can!  Don’t express gratitude only when you feel it. Give thanks especially when you don’t feel it. Rebel against your  emotions  that holds you back from your bliss.

Take a look at my share:

" WIMSF...Beginner's Quilling"

Hello everyone.
Hope your day started off with a good start.  No matter what comes your way, keep the goodness going.  You're headed for a two day vacation and better things are going to happen.

What could I pull from my stash today?
Let's see!   I haven't practice quilling in  quite a while so let's explore and see what I put together.
I had some "teardrop" rolled pieces already in my beginner's box...a start for my project.
What I did... I placed them in the center of a piece of cardstock to look like a flower.
I cut pieces and gently rolled the ends and glued them between each of the flower pieces.
I used coral Ranger liquid pearls for embellishment.  The Cosmo Cricket tiny text was still present on my desk, so I found a sentiment for my project.  Clean, simple, quick and fast.

Enabler's List:
Cardstock: Neenah white; Recollection black.....DP from Paper House Field Study
die: Spellbinders Card Creator
Equipment: tonic studio scissors; Quilled Creations Beginner Kit; Coral liquid pearls; Nuvo glue; big shot machine

Thanks for viewing.
Thanks for the comments.
Please come again!
Have a lovely, enjoyable weekend.

"Box On A Card"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers on this rainy Thursday morning.
Well at least it is raining where I am.  Someone, somewhere is enjoying the sunshine and beautiful weather.
It's October but I'm thinking Christmas today.  I still have some cards to make and I haven't done one in quite a while.  Last evening, I pulled out my Christmas supplies (stamps and dies) for this morning but really didn't know what directions to go in.
I've viewed several YouTube videos showing how to make a "box on a card" and decided to review for today's card.  If it didn't go well, you would not be enjoying the view today.
I loved doing something different and this design fell right in with my enthusiasm and desire .
It is not a card that will go postal...unless you are sending a large box with other items to an individual.  This type of card, in my opinion should be hand delivered.
Here, take a look and tell me what you think in the comment section below:

"Dies, Stamps. Flowers, Etc."

It's Wednesday, October 11, 2017.
Another great day to be here to share with you.
I've noticed your "Fall" cards, your "Halloween" cards and your "Challenge" cards...they are beautiful...keep on crafting...the view is good for the eye.
Don't forget we are getting out the word that this is breast cancer awareness month.  For my family and others it is every month.  October is just set aside to remind you to get a mammogram.  If breast cancer runs in your family, remind the women and sometimes men to go get that check-up...the earlier the better if cancer is detected in your body.  Any form of cancer...not just for breast...get it checked before it is too late!!!

"Ovals and Ovals"

Hello friends, visitors, viewers and followers on this Tuesday, October 10, 2017.
How did you start your day?
Did you wake up rejuvenated and ready to embrace the day no matter what comes your way?
Did you wake up still angry from yesterday's drama?
I know you have heard or seen the statement..."Life is short so enjoy every moment".
There are times when everything  seems to be perfect.  You are laughing , playing, cuddling and just having the "best day or time ever".  If you could only trap that moment and keep it forever.  Never having to feel sad, depressed or angry again.  It's just impossible to do that.

Why try and trap a moment when we can just BE the moment?
Just close your eyes the next time you feel completely happy or at peace. Don’t think about why it is something special or how it happened. Just become a part of something wonderful that life has given.

The card I'm sharing today:
"Embrace each and every moment"

"Guess What.....You Make My World Happy"

Good Monday, October 9, 2017 to you....my friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
It is the beginning of another work week.  It is Columbus Day.  Some of you are off and some of you took off to go shopping....don't think I didn't hear your conversation on yesterday.  As soon as you heard some people had the day off...you decided you were going to be off also.  Don't worry, your boss will never know.  Just be careful that he/she is not out shopping along with you.
How many of you have heard these words lately..."You make my world happy"?
If you're in a harsh environment in your home or on your job, you may never hear these words.
If you are in a serious relationship with your "heartbeat", you may be hearing these words almost every day if not every  other day.  If you and your spouse are doing well in your relationship, he or she may be telling you this often.
"You are my motivation... my inspiration...you make my world go around",  are just some of the things you do.
To accommodate those words, here is a card that can be sent or given to that "special" individual:

"WIMSF"

Hello everyone.
Welcome!
Today is October 6, 2017 and it is Friday.  The end of the work week.  Almost the end of the first week in this month.  Tomorrow is "World Cardmaking Day" and I can't wait to see all the displays of beautiful and creative cards you will be posting.   Most companies will be having sales on craft supplies so stock up.
I'm off on the weekend to do other things so I'll be checking in when time permits to see what you are doing.
Because it is Friday...you know by now my drill...yes, "what's in my stash for Friday"...my own personal challenge.
Okay, here is the run down on what I used:
  • This week, I used a border from K & Company made by Brenda Walton.  I left the package near the desk.  So of course, this would be a piece...flowers on the left.
  • I have a folder of die cut items that I cut when I'm doing projects and maybe don't get a chance to use all the cuts or they just don't fit the project that I'm working on at the time...circles and heartfelt creations die (blue)
  • It's easy to have items already made in a package that you can pull out to use...in this case, the wooden sentiment (hello)
  • Items that don't have the adhesive anymore but is good if you put glue or sticky tape on the back of it...butterfly.
Here's the card:
entry for http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com

 Enabler's List:
cardstock: Neenah white; Recollections black; DP from my stash

Have a lovely, enjoyable weekend and do something fun and exciting.

"Are You Living A Sweet Life?"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
It's Thursday.  Can you remember what you did on Monday?
Days are zipping by so fast as well as this year.  Seven more weeks before "black Friday".  There are two months and two weeks left before Christmas.
Let's make the days ahead enjoyable for others as well as ourselves.

Are you living a "sweet life"?  A life that equates to a better quality of life, happiness, and longevity.
You may be saying being alive means breathing, eating, sleeping, and moving. Stop doing any one of those, and you won’t be alive for very long. But there’s more to life than physiological function. To be truly alive, we must love, laugh, socialize, think, create, make, help, and give. To ensure your life is of high quality, you need to do all of these things with high quality. Doing so will help you maintain your physical, mental and emotional health, which in turn form the foundation for happiness and longevity.

Happy Wednesday, October 4, 2017
Wednesday is just two days from the weekend journey.  Everyone enjoys getting past what is called "hump" day.
I got up early this morning... did my crafting...and went to my dental appointment.
Now at 1 PM, I'm posting with my jaw full of novacaine.  I am not a happy camper.
I'll be okay.  I just have to wait until it wears away.
This morning before I left for my appointment, a crafty friend had posted a card with the sentiment "bloom where you are planted".  I told her I had a card on my desk with that same sentiment.  I also said that "great minds think alike".
I have two cards to share.

Thanks for viewing today.
Come again.
Love hearing from you so leave me a comment.

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"Something So Dear To Me...Breast Cancer Awareness Month"

Hello to Tuesday, October 3, 2017.
Let's focus on something so dear to me today and probably some other times during this month of October...breast cancer awareness.
My family, down through the generations, beginning with my grandmother (maternal ) have had to deal with breast cancer.
I've had my grandmother to die from this disease along with an aunt and several cousins.  My youngest sister has gone through this trauma and is a SURVIOR as of this writing.  Many friends and co-workers have struggle, loss their lives or are Survivors as well.
I met a young lady just yesterday who is going through chemo treatments for breast cancer while still trying to work.
It is so important to be a supporter and to help those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education and support services.  So, today dear friends, if you haven't had a mammogram, please call your doctor to schedule one.  Early detection is better than waiting until you get to stage 3 or 4 when it starts to spread to other parts of your body.

Thank you for viewing with me today.  Continue to keep the families of victims in the Las Vegas shooting in your prayers...I am.  Pray also for this world and the sin sick people who live in it.
Maybe one day, our people in politics will wake up and help to get unnecessary guns out of the hands of  all people.  I know and understand people hunt but they are not buying  these automatic weapons to kill for food.  Wake up America.

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"Emboss Then Sand"

Good Monday to my friends, visitors, followers and viewers.
Happy second day of October to you.
I'm looking forward to seeing your post depicting Halloween, Breast Cancer Awareness and Fall cards.  I'll be crafting with you, so let's have some October fun!
I picked up some inspiration from another blog using a technique that has been around for quite a while.  You use an embossing folder with cardstock that can be sanded down to the core (giving you another color) and making your image pop.
I had a few pieces of cardstock left from Tim Holtz Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection core'dinations pad.  I remember buying it years ago for the specific purpose of sanding/ distressing  it for a unique technique.  When newer techniques come on the market,  we tend to forget the old until they are  new again.
I used a blue piece for my card along with  a Spellbinders "Floral Label Four" embossing folder.  I embossed the cardstock and then used a piece of "sanding paper" (from my husband's garage) to reveal the core (another color).  Adding some Nuvo gold glitter drops on certain pieces enhanced the distressed image.  Two pieces of craft cardstock were cut out for the sentiment area.  One piece was embossed using a Cuttlebug "textured script" embossing folder and with the other piece, the center was cut out to make a frame.
The thought of prayer and praying has been the topic of choice lately and I found something  toward that effect in my sentiment bag.  Here is my share for today:
