"Thanks Times Two"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.

I'm going to remind you to go to http://www.lilartsywoman.com to become a follower or to join my NEW site.
Due to the news of Google+ closing down in 2019, I've been busy trying to set up my new blog at Wordpress.
Before leaving, I made two cards today to thank all of you who supported me and showed me some love during the 2018 year.
Here are my THANKS card to you.  I basically pulled paper from my stash to make these two cards and used flowers to help bring out the love.  You know the saying..."give me my flowers while I'm living because once I'm gone I want get to smell the sweet aroma".

"I'm Getting Ready To Move"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.

Starting sometime at the beginning of the New Year, 2019, I'll be moving over to this site  (http://www.lilartsywoman.com) to present my interest and creative designs.

"Enjoy Each Moment"

Hello beautiful people.
It's Thursday and we're approaching another weekend.
We will not have snow but rain  and more rain  in the forecast for Friday through Sunday.  With the snow melting and being mixed with the rain, flooding is predicted for a lot of places.  To be on the safe side, it would be a nice weekend to stay at home.

This time of the year makes a lot of people anxious about everything...getting the house organized and decorated for the holidays...shopping for gifts for family, friends and coworkers and being overwhelmed with what to get and what will make them happy... cooking or ordering the meal and making sure everyone will be able to eat what has been fixed...preparing for a trip either home or abroad and making sure your luggage is not over the weight limit at the airport...THESE ARE MOMENTS and some of them are not enjoyable.  Anxiety seeps in maybe over these things and some others...not enough time ...not enough money...not enough etc.
STOP and put the brakes on.  Hold them down for as long as you can.  The holiday should not be about any of those things.  You should not go into debt trying to please people and to make them happy for one day out of the year.  If you don't have time to do major cleaning, do what you can and  if the guest make negative comments about a "dust bunny", show or tell them where the cleaning supplies are. Let them know that you would be very happy if they offer to help wherever they see a need (ha ha ha).  If people are coming over for dinner, announce in advance what will be served.  Let them know that they can bring their own covered dish or something to please their taste.

Each MOMENT should be enjoyed and I've created a card for your enjoyment.  Take a look:

cardstock:  Paper and More pink;  DP from Hunkydory Vintage Glamour and Prima Santorini

Take a little time for yourself and enjoy each moment.  Life shouldn't be about being overwhelmed and anxious.

Thank you so much for your continued support and beautiful comments.

Lois

"Going Pink For You"

It's Tuesday, December 11, 2018.
Happy day to you my friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
Snow is still on the ground due to the cold temperature.  It's lovely because it gives me a chance to craft without having to go on an assignment outside of my home.  I was promised a trip to Hobby Lobby.  I didn't make it last week and it pretty much looks as if  I will not be going this week either.

Let's count how many days before Christmas...fourteen.  Did you get the same answer?  Fourteen days before I can see my "Sunshine" again.  Fourteen days before I can see my daughter from Florida (she is coming home for the holiday).  Fourteen more days before we meet and fellowship with my North Carolina daughter, her husband and his family.   May God continue to bless me to be here for another fourteen days and beyond.

Pink...do you love that color?  Many times it represents women, womankind and femininity.  However, men appear to get into the groove especially with wearing pink.  Pink shirts, coats and pink neckties can be seen as a trend at least in my area.  Once upon a time, a man would be ostracized for wearing that color.  Trends are changing.
My share for today includes a lot of pink.  I'm sorry men, but I was focused on the/a woman today.  I'm still working on birthday cards for December and maybe start on some for January.  Here, take a look at my project and enjoy the view.

this will be an entry for http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com

Thank you so much for reading, commenting and just for visiting with me on this blog.  I always appreciate you.

"It Doesn't Say Happy Birthday"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
It is Monday, December 10, 2018.  On the outside the three to six inches of snow is melting.  A few ice pellets did fall on top of it for a few minutes but not enough to amount to anything.  That's the good part...the ice stopped falling.  No one wants to slip and slide or fall down breaking a body part.  It (the snow) was very pretty yesterday as it fell from the sky.  Okay, my excitement came... I enjoyed it and since it is going away... I don't need to see anymore.

Birthdays  for the month of December:
I didn't forget you and I know we are on the 10th day of the month.  I was focused on Christmas cards and it entered my thoughts  that I had not made birthday cards for the people who celebrate in December.  I often wonder why November, December, and January  birthday people are forgotten.  Someone once said that those birthdays are so close to major holidays that you just forget the birthdays and concentrate on the festivities of the holidays.  If you miss those born in November...give them a gift at Christmas and say... this is also for your belated birthday.  It also can be said with January birthdays.  Give a Christmas gift and include a note that says, "this is for your birthday, also".
Here is a card for a recipient who will be celebrating a December birthday.  Where is the sentiment that says, "Happy Birthday",  I don't see one?  Don't worry,  it will be included (personalized) when I mail it.  Today, for your view, I intentionally left it off.

Enjoy your view:

"Snow Is On The Way"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
Welcome to Friday, December 7, 2018.  It is going to snow in my area Sunday.  At least that's what the weather people keep reporting.  We did see some flakes on Wednesday.  They were falling so pretty but didn't accumulate to stay around for a long period of time.
My card share for today features a SNOW family.  They are "Snow happy to see the first major snowfall for this blogger's joy".
As I was telling someone on Wednesday, I like to see the first "big" snow.  I get excited like a little child and can watch it fall and feel good.  After the first one, I really don't want to see anymore.
Enjoy this card and also the one I made for a challenge using paper from Hunkydory "Christmas Past" and Heartfelt Creations "Winter's Eve".

"Where Are You Going For Christmas?"

Hello beautiful souls on this Thursday, December 6, 2018.
How many more days before Christmas?
How many more days before the end of the year?  I know you have finished all of those first of the year goals you said you were going to accomplish.  I said I was going to adventure into different craft mediums this year.  I was going to try to do some different things other than cards.  With the help of my daughter attending a craft fair, I would say I pretty much achieved  doing something other than cards.  I also entered a challenge in which I used paint, gel plate, alcohol inks, nail polish and other things.  I even used a plant from the garden to make an impression onto the cardstock.   But wait, the year  is not over with as of yet so I still have time to do something different before December 31st.
Are you planning on going somewhere for Christmas?
If you didn't make it to grandma's house for Thanksgiving, is she on your travel list?
What about going to another country for the holiday, is that in your plans?    Some soldiers are coming home while some are going away.
If not at Thanksgiving, then, at Christmas, all hearts come home even if your physical body cannot.
This is the inspiration for my card share today.  Take a look and enjoy:

"Memory Dex/Rolodex Cards"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
Happy Tuesday, December 4, 2018 to you.
Are you counting?  Counting what, you may ask?   Well, it depends on where your thoughts are at the moment.  You may be counting the gifts you still have to buy.  You may be counting your money.  You may be counting the days before Christmas.  You may be counting the days before you can go home to visit family.  You may be counting your blessings.  There are so many things you could be counting.  Keep counting...no one is counting how many times or things you count (lol).

I finished watching a Youtube channel in which the host was receiving memory dex/rolodex cards for her birthday challenge this past weekend.   This  inspired me  to try to do one on my own.  They are not as large as a greeting card or the regular A2 size card (4.25 x 5.5) that are usually made.  The measurement that most people used was 4 x 3.  There are memory dex dies on the market to make a card or you  can make one on your own.  If you type in memory dex tutorial in the search box on Google, Pinterest or Youtube, I'm sure you will find one done by so many different people.

Here are five that I did for my share today.  I hope you enjoy the view(s):

This is one I'm adding as an entry to http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com

There are too many items to name for my Enabler's List.  I can tell you that most of the DP came from Recollections Say Freeze and North Pole Gazette paper pads.  The images are from my saved die cut stash as well as ephemera from different companies.  Some items were printed from Google and some are stickers.  It appears that when I started making one, it grew into five almost six until I stopped for today.

Again, I want to thank everyone who reads this blog (hello Lindsey), who write comments here as well as on Google + and the other sites that I post on.  Your continued support is much appreciated.

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois

"A Beautiful Poinsettia"

Good Monday to everyone!
Happy Hanukkah!
It's a blessing to be able to be here on this 3rd day of December 2018.  A dear church member was praising the LORD Sunday because of the blessing HE gave her son.  Her son was in a serious accident on Friday in which his vehicle was hit so hard by another vehicle.  It flipped several times so bad that the only way to get him out of it was to cut open  the back and pull him out that way.  When the vehicle flipped, the glass windows broke and his hands were damaged by being dragged out of the vehicle on the cut glass.  During all of this, God saved  his body (no internal injuries or broken bones only skin damaged to his hands).  At the hospital, his hands were bandaged and he was sent home praising the LORD.  Let me remind you with this true story that GOD is good and HIS mercy endures forever.
It has been reported that maybe, just maybe our area will receive the first snow of the season on Saturday, December 8, 2018.  This announcement prompted the inspiration for my card share for today:

"A Quick Card For Friday"

Hello everyone on this Friday (the last day in November 2018).
Once again we've made it to the weekend.  What's on your calendar or on your mind for this two -three day break?  Shopping, shopping and more shopping!!!  As I was talking with one of my daughters this week, I made this statement...people will be shopping all the way up to Christmas Eve.  Then I joked about those people who at the very last minute will shop at a 7-Eleven or Starbuck on Christmas morning before arriving at Grandma's house.   Some of us just love the decorations in the mall or in the shopping centers.  Some of us just love to be around a large group of people.  Some of us are watching to see if the price on a certain item will go down before the last minute.  Some continue to shop online to avoid all this drama.
I did a quick card this morning.  Basically, because the majority of the supplies were on my desk from earlier this week.  I had a desire to do a shaker card but just didn't want to hassle with it this morning.  If all goes well, then, maybe I'll do  one next week when I will have more time.
Here is your view for today:

embellishments:  shaker element; ribbon

Thanks for all the support and comments you have provided on my projects.  Enjoy your weekend and take a little time to BELIEVE  in the magic of Christmas.

"Criticism Or Critique"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
Welcome to Wednesday and another cold, breezy day.  Bundle up people if you live on the east side of the USA.  The Floridians are still somewhat warmer than those of us who live south of this state especially in VA and  New York.

My question for you to ponder today:  Are you criticized or critique?
Now that the question has been put to your conscience, think in terms of something you have done or said.  Do you get criticized ( indicate the faults of (someone or something) in a disapproving way) for what  you did or said?    Do you get critiqued (a detailed evaluation of something) for what you did or said?   I'm going to use my handmade cards to give you first, an example of criticizing and second, an example of critiqued:
Person Criticizing:  "Who wants to buy or receive something that is made at someone's house...I'd rather buy my cards from a store".  "Did you see the look on her face when I said I don't buy homemade items"?
Person Critiquing: "You have made a beautiful card but the next time you make one like this,  see if you can do something better with the glitter.  It was flaking off on my  hands and I didn't want my child to get it all over herself.  I like things that are homemade".

In my opinion and it is my opinion, a criticizer is someone who will be negative about anything and everything you say or do.  Their bullying will always hurt because they will never find something nice to say.  On the other hand,  critiquing is not always negative.  The person is helpful in helping you to make it better whatever you did or said.

These two cards are for your viewing today.  You may criticize or you may critique.  I'm wearing my "big girl panties" (ha, ha, ha) so I'm open for either:

This card was made using Splitcoast sketch #725
Enabler's List:
cardstock: Neenah white;  Recollections black;  Bazzill red

"Just BE YOU!"

Hello everyone on this Tuesday, November 27, 2018.
My friends, followers, visitors and viewers, it is c-o-l-d in my part of the world.  A little windy to make the temperature feel colder than what is on the thermometer.  Today will be an inside day.  I had a few items to pick up but not today.
Pri, I need to come stay with you for about two weeks to get warm before Christmas (lol).
For those of you who don't know, Pri is in the part of the world that is experiencing summer weather at this time of the year whereas we are having or nearing winter.
This is the last week in November.  By Saturday, we will enter the last month of the year.  All we can think about is Christmas, Christmas, Christmas.
I will continue to make Christmas cards for your viewing but for today, I want you to just "Be U" (taking a Christmas card break today).

Yes, take a little time to just be you.

"Just Be You"
(feat. Sadie Robertson)

No one can do it just like you
Something magic in the way you move
You're original, you know it's true
Don't let anybody take your tune
You ain't got a single thing to prove
You're original so just be you
Just be you

You're one of a kind
The kind of once in a lifetime
Not just another face in the crowd
You light up a room
With the light that's inside you
Don't be afraid to let it out

So hold your head up
Don't let anybody get you down

You gotta believe
You're here for a reason
This world needs somebody like you
Cause anybody can be a copy
And there will always be people talking
So face your fears and chase your dreams
And dance like no one's watching

Here is my card share for today:
entry for http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com
Attempting to look a little glamorous today.
Enabler's List:
I used some glitter-like cardstock from Recollections for my focal background as well as for the skirt on the lady, the bow, and one of the banners.  Too much sparkle you  say...maybe or maybe not.
I also used Tonic Studio's mirror cardstock, "Pink Chiffon", that was close to the glitter-like cardstock.
An AliExpress die was used to make the bow as well as the banners.
I used lace and Nuvo gloss white drops around the banners and as a ring on the lady's finger.
EK success Sticko Alphabet stickers were used for the "Be U".
To finish the card, I placed three faux pearls at the top right.

Now, I just have to find the right person to send this to.  If it doesn't happen before the year is out...this will end up in the box at the beginning of 2019 for the "Cards For Soldiers".

Thanks for taking a little time to view with me today.  Your comments and continued support is appreciated so very much.

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois

"O HOLY NIGHT"

Good Monday, everyone.
How was your Thanksgiving holiday?
Did you eat too much?  Did your shop too much?
Are you still shopping on this cyber Monday?  If I really needed more craft supplies, today would be a great day to shop online.  I have received more than enough cyber offers from craft, clothing, electronics and even one from an airline company.  Do these people think I have money to burn or throw away (lol)?   I should go ahead and buy something for the grandchild from Justice and Claire.  She got her ears pierced and earrings are her favorite for the moment.  Three weeks from today, everything will change (lol).

Stop reading and looking if you don't want to see another Christmas card.  This is what I have to show you today.  I used some Hunkydory items I received last year and never used all the supplies.  This is a decoupage scenery for  "O Holy Night" .
Take a look:
I will enter this at http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com

Enabler's List:

This is the same card with a brighter light.

Thanks for taking a little time to view with me today.  Your visits and comments are very much appreciated.  Please come again!

"Christmas Card With Tiny House"

Happy Wednesday, November 21, 2018.
I'm wishing you a happy, grateful, thankful Thanksgiving.  I know most of you are on your travel plans for the holiday.  I'm not really expecting a lot of followers here on my blog today.  I'm busy preparing to do the same as you are doing.  I'm wishing you safe travels as well as my family, friends and myself.
In between getting ready, I did a card for a challenge today.  I'm somewhat pleased with the outcome but not really jumping for joy due to the 3D effect I was trying to make.  In real life, it looks really good but the photo I took with my iPad did not do my project justice.

"Tutti Designs Dies For Christmas Card"

Good Monday to all.
What a glorious day to share with you today.  In my neighborhood it is a peaceful fall day.  The crisp air is stirring.  The leaves are falling and everything appears to be calm without chaos at the moment...hoping it will remain this way.
Are you ready for the turkey feast day?  I had to really laugh at my husband who still thinks that we should prepare for the children to come home to have dinner on Thanksgiving day.  He wanted to purchase "the bird" and all the fixins to go with it.  Now, I had to remind him on two occasions that we were invited to my daughter's house (where the grandchild lives) for Thanksgiving.  I don't have to do all of that cooking anymore.  I will do something on a smaller scale for Sunday the 25th but no, and no again..."no big bird to look at for several days"...not at my house.
I'm going to see if my daughter can put a couple of slices of turkey in a ziplock bag for him to bring home for a sandwich on Friday (lol).
Christmas will be the same way...at her house with the grandchild... but we don't fix turkey on that occasion either...it is seafood day for the majority of us and steak for him (he can't eat seafood).
Writing this morning about Christmas, I have another card share using Tutti Designs Dies, two of them.  I'm using the Holiday Lamp Post and the Flying Angels from this company.
Here, take a look at what I made:

Go forth and enjoy the remainder of your day.  Thanks for stopping by for a few moments.  Please come again.

"Kaisercraft Lantern Scene"

It's Friday and the weekend is here.
Hello to everyone on this November 16, 2018.
Some of you managed to survive the first wintery mix of the year.  The slipping and sliding is what some of you are accustomed to. Not this blog writer.  The older I get, the heavy rainfall is too much for me, nonetheless snow and sleet..  We had to venture out yesterday in the rain and the driving that people do when it is a downpour and when the roads are wet. makes your heart pump extra fast due to their inconsiderate ways. Thankfully we made it to our destination and back home without any problems...except for one, which had nothing to do with the weather.  DH picked up the wrong battery for his Jeep and had to take it back this morning.
I had cut out the dies from a Kaisercraft  Lantern Scene and put them in my die cut container.  Those are the ones I pulled out today to make a card to share with you.
Here is my share for today:
entry for http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com
Enabler's List:
cardstock: Paper and More blue; Recollections black;  Graphic 45 Old Curiosity Shoppe; Hunkydory pattern cardstock
die Kaisercraft Lantern Scene

Have yourself an enjoyable weekend.  Start cooking for that Thanksgiving dinner next week.  Since it will be a short week for some, rest and relax and have some fun.

Thanks for viewing.  Please come again.

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois

"In This Season Of Thanksgiving"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
I hope all is well with you on this Thursday, November 15, 2018.  We are moving on up to the end of 2018 with only a month and two weeks to go.
Thanksgiving is next Thursday.  Yes, I knew you were aware of this holiday.  What is so sad is the fact that a lot of people wait until this day to say what they are thankful for.  What about you?  Do you wait until November (Thanksgiving Day) to make or to say a list of things that you are thankful for?
Okay, here is what I want you to do at this moment...set your timer for one minute...start naming everything you are thankful for.   How many items were on your list before the buzzer sounded?
This little exercise helped you to not wait until next Thursday.  The point is that we should wake up with thankfulness on our hearts, minds and tongues every day.

Here is my card share for today:

"Scripture Card...Psalm 62:5"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and friends.
It has been a while since I last shared a bible journaling scripture card with you.  I put this up front because I know there are a lot of people who do not want to know anything about the bible and they will skip over anything related to it.  So, I've given you fair warning.  I'm a Christian and I love my Creator.
For the one who wants to continue reading...where do you find your rest and hope?
People who are physically tired will say that they find rest in the bed or on the couch sleeping.   They  also find rest taking a day off from their job or any activity that will be mentally or physically challenging.
People who are sick from a deadly disease or will be having major surgery  may say that their hope is in the medical staff who will be taking care of them.
In both examples, in the natural fleshly level, these would be and are true.  We need to get physical rest for these tired bodies as well as put some hope in the doctors who are skilled to perform exceptionally well on us  when we are ill.
However, if the statement was changed to include your soul which is the spiritual level, where would you find rest and hope?

Here is the card I made centered around the title of this blog today:

Have a glorious day no matter if it is raining, snowing, humid or just cold.
Thanks for viewing.

"Reminisce"

Good Tuesday to all.
What past events can you remember that made you feel a certain way?
In your remembrance, is it a good one or a bad one?  Do we tend to keep the good and forget about the bad?    I'm very sure that all of us would love to reminisce about the "good times and the good days" and keep all of the bad things away from our memory.  Don't you agree?

Here is a card I made with that one word (Reminisce) as the sentiment.  Take a look and see if it triggers a memory.  Take a little time to reminisce today (I'm quite sure we do this daily anyway).

"Mini Folio"

Happy Friday everyone.
Yes, we made it to the beginning of a weekend break.  Although, we are having a very rainy day, it is still beautiful.  The wind is blowing and there is a shower of leaves.  They have finally changed colors...red, yellow, a little burnt orange and those green leaves that still want to hang on a little longer.
While I was deep into making craft fair projects for my daughter, I was working on some mini albums or folios.  I didn't finish as many as I had promised so I scratched sending them to her.  Instead, my grandchild is having two major functions that she is involved in going on for Thanksgiving and one before Christmas.  She is in a dance class event as well as a gymnastic event.  I thought I would give her these two folios to put pictures in.
Caution!  This post is very heavy on the photos:
The first folio:
I used papers from Prima; My Mind's Eye; Recollections; and Tim Holtz.
Graphic 45 tags;   Prima and Recollections flowers;  ribbon from Walmart;  Martha Stewart faux pearls;  Spellbinders ballerina die;  stickers from My Big Idea sticker sheet.

The second folio:
Paper from Stamperia Wonderland; Prima flowers; Walmart ribbon; Martha Stewart faux pearls
