"Grow Through What You Go Through"

Good Thursday to everyone.
In our neighborhood it is cool and misty.  This makes a very good day to do several things...read, relax or craft.
I'm doing the last one at the moment...crafting.  I will read a chapter or two out of my John Grisham book .. relax a little  before I start with my evening activities.
Still within the line of "fall-ish" items, I used a puffy pumpkin  along with puffy leaves (stickers) on my card today.  The paper (ODBD) behind the TH (paper dolls) girls had a fall look.  I paired everything with a sheet from Bo Bunny Aryia's Garden Collection.
Question:  Every time that you have gone through a trial or a painful situation, did you grow by learning something or are you still angry about what you had to endure?   Most non-Christians are basically still angry.  They walk around and talk about..."why did this have to happen to me".  Most Christians will get angry but will not stay angry because the small voice inside of you that gives you peace and guidance will direct you to the lesson that you should have learned during your test.
Pain is going to come in our lives.  God puts pain there to speak to us.  If you listen, HE is using it for a teachable moment or teachable time.  If you don't listen, the adversary maybe trying to turn you away from God.  It's your choice as to whether you grow through what you're going through or you're mad with the Master teacher and remain uneducated.

My card share for today:

"How Do I Rate You?"

Good Wednesday friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
I'm a little late in posting but I'm determine to get it done today.  We've been busy with some appointments on yesterday as well as this morning.  The card was made but I didn't have time to post before lunch.
Finally, here it is:
It looks a little "fallish" as well as someone who loves coffee.  I was trying to combine the two.  The cool weather that is coming into our area will make one think of something warm to drink, especially during the early morning...coffee, tea or cocoa.

Enabler's List:
cardstock: linen cream (PaperandMore); black and brown (Recollections);  orange (Bo Bunny); plaid (the Paper Studio)
die: Honey Bee coffee cup;  leaves are from Sizzix fall foliage
embossing folder: Sizzix 3-D texture fades lumber
stamp: Simon Says Stamp Everything Together

How do I rate you?   The answer is the sentiment that I used..."You are simply the best ever".

Thanks for viewing.  Please come again!

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois

"Make Today Pretty"

Hello everyone on this Friday, September 21, 2018.
I'm popping in with a card I started on yesterday but didn't finish.  This morning I did get to finish this fancy fold card for your viewing.
My color inspiration is "blue" so I found paper that would blend together for layering.  I didn't use any dies but  I just had to place a flower on the card.  I used all DP paper from Recollections as well as the black for a layer.  The card base is Neenah white.  The flower is from Prima.  The faux pearls are from Walmart (Studio G self-adhesive).
This was a fun project to put together after cutting out all the paper you want to use.  I even decorated the back panel with a pull out tag for the sentiment.

Here's your view:

This is the front view of the card

This is the top view of the card

This is the back view of the card showing the pull out tag for  your private comments.
Thanks for your time today.  I hope the remainder of this day will be a blessing to you and please have a glorious weekend.
Come again, I enjoy your comments.

Lois

"Have You Forgotten To Use Your Punches?"

Happy Tuesday everyone.
I'm so glad to be sharing with you on today, September 18, 2018.
First, I hope my friends in Virginia whose areas were hit by the tornadoes on yesterday are safe.  Yes, the major wind and water damage may have passed us by due to the hurricane but we were not really looking forward to tornadoes touching down.  I can't say that we were caught off guard but they came so fast and furious.
It will probably be the same this afternoon so we are preparing again to be safe.  I did have an appointment today but I cancel because I didn't want to be on the highway with the threat of a tornado on the horizon.
I put down the craft fair items and went back to card making this morning.
The inspiration for this card came by looking at a box of punches I took out to make rosettes.  Wow!  These were my long time friends that I used a long time ago before getting into dies.  I will be using the punches for rosette making but today I use one to punch around the edge of some cardstock to make a card.
Take a look:

I'm addressing the situation and waiting for a reply.  Thanks for your patience.

"Altered Thread Spools"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
We are safe and secured for the moment.  It seems that the direction Hurricane Florence took on Friday, along with answered prayers, we manage to be safe from the storm.  Yes, rain has been falling for the last couple of  days and the same for today but we are not in a flood zone and the electricity has not gone out.  It doesn't mean that someone may slide into a pole with the rain coming down so hard at times.  People don't seem to respect the danger of driving slow during a heavy downpour.
Our weekend was a little dreary but we still managed to venture out in the surrounding area.  Anyway I needed some crafting supplies (not really...I know I have more than I can use in a day...lol).
I did buy two bundles of crochet thread to alter.  These projects will be added to the things I'm making for when my daughter goes to a craft fair in November.  The store I went to didn't have a large supply of colors so I will have to order at least three more to put in her box.
Take a look at the projects I made:

Enabler's List:
Red Heart Classic Crochet Thread size 10 in Peacock and in victory red
Lace
Wild Orchid flowers and Prima flowers

The idea behind these altered thread spools is gifting someone who crochet and they  can use all the other items (lace, flowers, and buttons) for embellishment on other projects if they cannot incorporate them in their crocheting project.

Lois

"Hello Orange And Black"

Good Thursday to all the beautiful people.
Hope you are safe or trying to be safe in the path of Hurricane Florence.
The weather report is saying we will miss most of the turbulent wind and rain but we will still have some of the effects of the hurricane.
Praying for the SC and the coastal Virginia people.

I'm sharing a card I made for a card sketch.  I thought about the design and what I would do with it on yesterday.  Finally, I decided on the fall/Halloween colors but didn't really want to do a Halloween card.  I love fall colors  and this is my chance to love orange (a color that I don't use often).  I know there is a show on that is called "Orange Is The New Black".  I've never seen it but I have seen some of the people who play roles on this show on other talk shows.  That phrase just kept playing in my mind when I was thinking about fall colors.

Enabler's List:
cardstock: PaperandMore linen cream;  Recollections black; Cardstock Warehouse Paper orange
DP: digital download from Pinterest
die: Prima doll Lorrena (AliExpress); ODBD double stitched ovals; Avery Elle "hello"
embellishment: gloss white crystal drops from Nuvo
followed sketch design SC714 at Splitcoaststampers.com

Thanks for viewing with me today.  I hope this is not too much orange and black for your eyes.

"Honey Bee Coffee Cup Shaker Card"

Hello to all you beautiful people.
What's it like for you on this Tuesday?  Are you relaxing?  Are you working a nine to five?  Are you crafting?  Are you preparing for a hurricane?  We are...
I'm surprised that my DH mentioned that we needed to make preparation today for what could be a disaster by Friday.  He wanted to go get food that can be eaten without the use of electricity and to fill up the gas can for fuel to put in the generator just in case our electricity goes out.
We went shopping and the store was full of other individuals with the same intention.  Most of the shelves were empty and we called ourselves getting out early this morning.  I believe people started stocking up on yesterday (Monday).
Before venturing out, we did pause along with others to commemorate today and what happened seventeen years ago (2001) on 9/11...where we were and what we were doing at that time.

For today's share, I used  a Honey Bee coffee cup die and made a shaker card.
I used a sheet of cardstock from the Prima Santa Baby paper pad, a piece of cardstock from Recollections Honeydew paper pad, and Tonic Studio Pink Chiffon cardstock.
I added some razzle dazzle to my project by adding some sequins from Craft Medley (Princess) and German Glass Glitter Shards (Primrose).  The sleeve on the cup can slide off to reveal the coffee card.  Inside, one will be able to place a gift card or a note.

Here, take a look:

The top photo has the sleeve and the bottom photo is with the sleeve pulled down.
This was a fun little project to complete and this is just one of many I will be doing for my daughter's craft fair in November.

Thanks for viewing and for commenting on my previous projects.

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois

"Playing With Tags...Day One"

Good Monday to all you beautiful people.
How fantastic was your weekend?  We went window shopping and had a good time laughing at each other with silly things we could dress up in.  I had to ask my other half if he was thinking about Halloween because what he was picking up for me was not in my character.  It was a fun day and I really enjoyed our outing.
My allergies didn't...did I ever wake up with a terrible sinus problem on yesterday.  Headache and pressure made me go searching for my allergy medicine to start using.  When the leaves start falling from the trees, then I know it is time to start squirting allergy medicine up my nostrils.
Pray for us that live on the eastern side of the USA especially on the side with the Atlantic Ocean.  We may be in the path of Hurricane  Florence sometime this week.  I told my DH that each time we have something on the east coast named after a woman, we will be in for a treat.  Not only is Florence on our side but also Helene and Isaac.  Paul is in the eastern Pacific and Olivia in the Central Pacific...It's that time of year.  Be safe everyone!!!

Tags with paper and not the game little children play.
This is where my thoughts were this morning.  I promised my daughter that I would make items for a craft fair in her area ( during November).  I would be concentrating on items for Christmas.  I saw a YouTube tutorial on a Christmas tag yesterday and wanted to see if I could duplicate what the lady was using.  She did use some items that I didn't have so I improvised with my  supplies.  This was a dry run for what I will be making in the future (tags).
Here, take a look:
entry for http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com
Enabler's List:
graphic 45 tags; the pink wooden piece and the music piece at the bottom were pieces of cardstock out of my stash
I used some Recollections flowers and a piece of doily.
dies: Stamp Simply tea cup; Honey Bee tea time spoon;
stamp: "thinking of you" from Hampton Art
The green swirls under the flowers are die cuts from Spellbinder

Thanks for viewing with me today.  As always, you are welcome to come back as well as leaving a comment.

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois

"It's National Lazy Mom's Day But I Can't Celebrate"

Good Friday, September 7, 2018 beautiful people.
First, I have to tell you I laughed at the National Day Celebration...one of the titles for today, National Lazy Mom's Day.   How can or could  I celebrate and really enjoy the "Lazy Mom's Day?
With what's on my agenda, it is no way that I could enjoy this day set aside as a holiday from laundry, dishes, car pools and bathroom cleaning.  Those are just a few things on my list for today except the car pooling.
I did manage to get a card done before I start with everything else.
I had a few things on my desk and I used those along with my scissors to create some hearts for this card...(look madam, no die cuts).
What was there, on my desk, were two paper pads and a cup of small items that didn't make it on other cards.   On the floor near the desk was a priority mail box ( I used a piece for some extra texture on my card).
I took a sheet of cardstock from one paper pad (Kaisercraft Kaleidoscope) and paired it with pieces from (Recollections Scrapbook Paper pad).  The dotted cardstock and the striped piece used for one of the hearts came from the Recollections pad.  The floral piece in the back and the heart with the bird came from Kaisercraft.
In the cup was a piece of ribbon and a twisted piece of paper.  After cutting out the hearts with scissors, I was trying to use the twisted paper as the heartbeat.  I didn't want to stretch it in a straight line.  I specifically wanted it in a curvy shape. I did have the words "With Love" and "heart" already cut out in the cup but couldn't get them to look appropriate on the card.  Therefore, they were left for another project. The little piece of red doily fit perfectly behind the brown Recollections cardstock layer.
Enough explaining!  Here take a look for yourself:

"You're Beautiful, So Have A Brewtiful Day"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
Happy Thursday, September 6, 2018.  It seems like a long time since I last posted.  There are so many things that are taking priority over crafting at the moment.  Any time that I can slip in and post something, then I'll do it.
Today was one of those times in the last couple of days that I did have time to make something to share.  In the process there are two cards with the same sketch using different paper products.  It seems that I had "beautiful" on my mind.  You're beautiful and I want you to have a beautiful day.  One of the cards will be a birthday card for someone in September.
Here, take a look at what I made:
Enabler's List:
cardstock: Recollections kraft, cream and black cardstock; Kaisercraft and Scrapbook Paper DP
accessories: burlap; Prima flowers; hemp cord

entry for http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com
Enabler's List:
cardstock: Bo Bunny Aryia's Garden and Bo Bunny Dreams of Autumn; Recollections kraft and black cardstock; Neenah white
To make the leaves, I used VersaMark; Stampendous chunky metallic embossing enamel; Emerald Creek deep sea; Emerald Creek ancient amber; Emerald Creek rocky road; Emerald Creek chunky rust; Wendy Vecchi cactus flower; Wendy Vecchi sunflower  on a piece of Bristol smooth cardstock.  Then, with Sizzix's fall foliage die, I cut out the leaves from the embossed piece.

Thank you so much for viewing.  I hope you enjoyed my projects and will visit again.

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois
