"One Sketch...Two Ways"

Happy Tuesday morning to my Followers, Friends, Visitors and Viewers.

Hoping all of you are experiencing the newness and renewed diligence for the beginning of this year.  It is day 5.  Have you stopped those resolutions you made on New Years Eve?  Are you still going forward no matter what comes your way?  Did you bring into this year all the excessive baggage  that was holding you down last year?  Only you can be responsible for you!  Your answer will only be shared by you and you alone.

For today's share, I am continuing with making cards and sharing them with you here and other places on the web.

MojoMonday:  http://www.mojomonday.blogspot.com/2016/01/mojo-monday-429-contest.html
has a sketch.  Quite frankly, this site puts out a sketch every Monday except for when they go on vacation.    I gave the sketch a try and liked it so much that I made another card and altered it just a little.
Here are the two cards and the sketch.
Entry for http://www.mojomonday.blogspot.com/2016/01/mojo-monday-429-contest.html

Paper:  Grey and yellow Recollection cardstock for A2 base and small square...DCWV Cutting Machine Cardstock for the layer on top of the base...The Paper Studio Be Bold be bright cardstock for the strip behind the circle; DCWV cardstock for circle;
Die: Spellbinders Pierced Circles and Our Daily Bread Double Stitched Rectangles
Stamp: Hampton Art jillibean soup handwritten sentiments
Ink: Hampton Art Studio g black pigment ink
Embellishment: Martha Stewart butterfly

Entry for:  http://www.cropstop.com/blog/uncategorized/linky-party-11-anything-goes/

Paper used:  white Neenah cardstock for the base; black Recollection cardstock fro backing; Recollection Christmas Noel paper for all the other elements ( square, strip, circle and heart)
Sentiment:  done with eksuccess sweetheart script gold foil
Embossing Folder: the Paper Studio dots
Used white Chalk marker for dots around the heart
The same sketch was taken from mojomonday.blogspot.com but the square was slightly shifted to the right to form an angle instead of being straight.

The next time you  use a sketch, try alternating a piece or some of the pieces to give you a second or maybe a third card.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day in whatever your heart desire.

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"New Beginnings"

Hello to all my Friends, Followers, Visitors, and Viewers!
Happy New Year to All
To all my friends and followers from 2015, welcome back to my blog.  If it is your first time here, then, it is a special welcome to you!  I'm glad you took the time to press that button to see what this site is all about.

I am going to be JAMMING in 2016.
I am sharing my excitement for the JAM2016 brought to you from: http://tiaresmith.com/2015/12/getting-started-with-embrace-your-art-2016-journal-about-mejam/.
I am telling you, my friends, because the more the merrier.  Tiare Smith and the rest of the gang would like for you  to PUMP UP THE JAM!!!  It is just a great way to get you involved and to have a bit of fun.

This is my first submission to JAM2016
January 1 Prompt: Your Name –  Challenge: Use a baby wipe.
How did I use a baby wipe?
I applied Gelatos on my round shape and used the baby wipe to smooth out the colors.
After looking up the meaning of my name, I used some of the information on my shape (who am I and what has others determined "Lois" is all about)
I used  Martha Stewart stamps for the butterflies and half flowers .

The next "new beginnings" is entering  challenges :
  •  http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/sunday-clean-and-simple/forum/topics/cas-challenge-january-3-2016   and
  • http://greatimpressionsstamps.blogspot.com/search/label/Challenge
  • http://avenue613.blogspot.com/
Each entry requirement is to use CAS card with the twist of having or using a bird for the Outlawz challenge and to use valentine or bird for the greatimpression challenge.
Here are two examples of cards I made.

This will be seen again at avenue613.blogspot.com

    • what if I fall?  oh, my darling, what if you fly?  starts out with the A2 size base using Recollection cream cardstock  topped with a brown sheet of Paper House paper.  On top of the brown is a piece of Ranger water color paper...here is where I printed out the sentiment and used a die-cut (Spellbinders) to cut it out (this was also backed with the brown paper).  I cut out the branch and adhered it to the sentiment and let it over flow onto the card front.  Lastly, two wooden birds were attached to the branch with glue dots.
    • I will sing and make music with all my soul.  Psalm 108:1 starts with all the same elements as the first card.  After applying the music and sentiment strips, I used the double stitched rectangles die on the water colored paper and attached it to the brown paper.

This last card will be entered in today's http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/monday-greetings/forum/topics/monday-greetings-challenge-add-a-tree-to-your-card

White Recollection cardstock was used for the A2 base with black Recollection cardstock for the next layer followed by a piece of  blue cardstock .
I found a tree  from Google image and printed it five times at the same size.  One tree was used for the base while the other four were cut and used in a decoupage fashion to make the tree look 3D.  Hampton Art glitter glue was used on various parts of the tree for special effects.
The sentiment was typed and printed from my computer and printer.  It expresses the way I would like to start my new beginnings for 2016.

Thank you for joining me here today and come back again for more.  For the new friends and visitors, there is more to be shared with you this year...stick around!

Sending you a hug and LOVE.

"Praying You're Not Home Alone This Holiday"

Hello Friends, Followers, Visitors and Viewers.
Last week I posted about where all of our stories start...Home.  How we reminiscence about what we did at home during the holidays. That was last week.
Today, just a thought about those who are at home but at home alone for the holidays.  No family will come to visit.  No family to call.  You're not close to your neighbors or you don't have neighbors who live close by. You are alone.

Sad, because family have pushed you aside and don't want to have anything to do with you.
Sad, because you didn't come from a large family to start with and everyone has died out.
Sad, because you're in a nursing home or other facility and family members are not coming to say hello, Merry Christmas or how are you doing.

Inspired to create a card for the Outlawz;  We had to use a  holiday movie. This is my entry:

I used  (red, black, white cardstock).
I had a picture of a house...(not the one in the movie).
I added a piece of black and white for the curtain.
Foam dots were used behind the window (Tim Holtz window die).
My sentiment represents my feelings...  I'm praying no one, especially your love ones will not be in this situation during the Holiday.  No one that you love should be "home alone".
In the movie the boy was left  behind and thieves came in to rob the house.  Yes, the movie was a little comical but in real life being left alone and robbed at this time of year is no laughing matter.  Being left alone and not having no one to come by to check on you is no laughing matter.
Most people will see Grandma on Thanksgiving but she is all by herself on Christmas...please don't let it happen.   You may think that there are other people around but it is not the same  when you're not with family.
I don't want to be "HOME  ALONE" during the holiday.  Do you?

The LilArtsyWoman will be closed until 2016.  If it is the LORD's will I'll see you in January.
     Thank you for your continued  support in 2015 and as always;

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
    Lois

"Here"s Your Order...I Hope You Like It"!

Hello Friends, Followers, Visitors and Viewers.
     It's here....Friday...Vacation...Holiday Cheer!
    Ready...Set...Go...Fun Time to be ~merry!
Okay, enough of the excitement.  I know you came to see what's going on over here so let me get to it...
Let's just say "a person" contacts you and wants a birthday card for a woman.  You invite them to check out some of the cards you have already made and try to get an idea of what they want.  They tell you "make something with some flowers on it.  (Nothing in reference to what you have made in the past).
You want to know what colors and they respond;" Some red and maybe white... you could put some black on it because I like those colors.  Just make me a pretty card", they say.
Well, my pretty may not be your pretty or my taste may not be your taste.  So, where do we go from here?
..."Just make me a card.   I'm going to like it, I already know", responded the person.

My friends, this is what I came up with.  If you're going to like it no matter what, without any suggestions...that leaves me to do what I do best...create from my God given ability!
I included your red, white and black with some natural cardstock.
I used some designer paper that had a black and white background.
I did use some paper with presents on it, therefore you can say it is a birthday card.
Just in case you change your mind, I used a sentiment that can go either with a birthday greeting or with another occasion.  That means neither one of us will be at a lost.
Since this will be going to a woman, I included some handmade roses on it along with the Spellbinders Romantic vines that I have been using lately .

Now, I'm presenting it to my viewers.  They will give their opinions .
As I've stated, neither one of us will loose.  I have people I know who will also have birthdays in January and or "happy days" coming up.

I love to enter card challenges where there is a sketch or theme.  People challenges make me a little nervous...especially when they give you the rein...controlling or guiding power to do whatever you want and they are saying  they are going to like it.  I always like for a person to pick out something I have already made because crafting should be fun and not complicated. Do you agree

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
    Lois

"Valentine's Day When We Haven't Had Christmas Yet"

Hello Friends, Followers, Visitors and Viewers!
Hot off the press this morning...
It's Thursday and one more day in the office.  There is no need of thinking about work next week because most of us are off until January 5, 2016 ( only  if you work in a school environment). Hip, hip, hooray!
This is the last weekend before Christmas and if you haven't shopped for those gifts, .... we know where you will be.
We've made cards for Christmas...sent them out to people...boxed some up for the troops...so what's next?
Skip the Happy New Year and fast forward to Valentine's Day!  Oh no, you may be saying.  Not yet! You're still working on Christmas cards and don't want to think ahead.
When sending cards for someone else to use, you have to stay ahead of the game.  The card I made today can be sent as a Valentine's card and this is where my thoughts were going ( I like to box up some cards and send them off for others to use, especially the troops).

Supplies I used to make this card which will be entered in the Twisted Thursday Challenge For December 17-23, Optional twist..."Girly Girly" over at the Outlawz.

    • Neenah white cardstock; black and red Recollection cardstock
    • lace ribbon
    • faux gems
    • used the double stitched rectangles dies from Our Daily Bread designs

I hope you enjoyed the view of this card today.  It was not complicated to make at all.

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
    Lois"Val
