"Wednesday Wonders"

Hello friends, followers, viewers and visitors.
It's Wednesday, February 26, 2020.  Today is Ash Wednesday.  It is also three days before the end of the month.
Let's view some facts about Ash Wednesday:
Each year, Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. Often called the Day of Ashes, Ash Wednesday starts Lent by focusing the Christian’s heart on repentance and prayer, usually through personal and communal confession.  Lent is a 40-day season (not counting Sundays) marked by repentance, fasting, reflection, and ultimately celebration. The 40-day period represents Christ’s time of temptation in the wilderness, where he fasted and where Satan tempted him. Lent asks believers to set aside a time each year for similar fasting, marking an intentional season of focus on Christ’s life, ministry, sacrifice, and resurrection.

“From dust you came and from dust you will return.”The ashes of this holiday symbolize two main things: death and repentance. “Ashes are equivalent to dust, and human flesh is composed of dust or clay (Genesis 2:7), and when a human corpse decomposes, it returns to dust or ash.”

Three cards for today called Wednesday Wonders because I wondered if I should post them for your view.  Two were made using Splitcoaststampers card sketch and one was made using leftovers on my desk (I needed to get rid of the cut out).
Sketch from Splitcoaststampers if you want to join the fun.

My first attempt at using the sketch.  I wasn't sure I liked the outcome so I decided to do another one.

This is my card that I will post on Splitcoaststampers
 "Happy Easter"
cardstock: Recollections yellow and black; Neenah white; Tonic Studio gold; Recollections DP Green Script
sentiment from Google
die cuts from Aliexpress
embellishment: two gold hearts from die cut.
followed the sketch SC790

I made this card with leftover die cuts that were on my desk.  By adding three clear gems and distressing the edges of the cardstock, this makes a great birthday card when the need arise.  It will not be that long because I have two sisters who celebrate birthdays in March.

Thanks for viewing.  Please come again.

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois

Wow, those leftover die cuts made a nice card; like what you did with the sketch, beautiful cards as usual!

Hi Lois, love the last card made with die cuts, well done, by the way you’ve a spammer onHappy Loves day post and maybe some others too?!
You need to go into your comments published and delete all his comments. Grr! he’s the same guy that was spamming my blog, I’ve had to put on moderation after first day of post, sick of deleting him.

Now the good news!
You’re the winner over at Word art Wednesday too, well done, pop over and collect your prize if you haven’t already and a very worthy winner too, congratulations,!
Thanks for sharing and for being a blessing, and may God bless you too.
Hugs, Shaz in Oz.x 😊

Dear Lois was in hurry other niggt and didn't read all about Ash Wednesday and Lent.. very interesting. I was young when saved and trusted Lord, remember going to church on Wed evening service by myself, a walk up the lane to few streets away.. remember loving that time of year. Now practise it as much all year around, but think it is good to focus thus before Easter and Christ's death and resurrection.. how He loves us..
Love both cards of sketch, but especially love the classic beauty of second one for SCS. Well done.
Prayer hugs Shaz in Oz. X
