"Using Vellum For A Softer Finish"

Hello, hello, hello to all who are viewing, following, visiting and just being friendly.
Welcome to April...at least to the third day of this month.  Were any jokes played on you on Saturday?  Did you receive any bogus e-mails for craft supplies?  If not, then, you had a fantastic day without any interruptions.

Today's card that I'm featuring, has a layer of vellum to give it a softer look to the bold background.

I do not remember the name of the paper I used.  It was one of those forgotten sheets in my stash bin.
I adhered the vellum over the top of it after placing the sentiment an inch from the bottom. I then cut out two hearts from the excess that was left over.  I added three red sequins on top of the vellum to appear as if they were toppers for the flowers...
The designer paper and vellum layer was added to a piece of Recollections black cardstock, then, burgundy cardstock before being adhered to the Neenah white cardstock card base.
Very simple and easy card that I enjoyed putting together.

"Vellum With Heat Embossing"

Hello To All!! 
Over the "hump" with one more to go before the weekend.
The weather has been so up and down.  Warm, hot, cold, cool, and now snow for the weekend along with the time changing.  I'm ready for "all" of it.  Why?  I can't do anything to change it so I might as well embrace it with open arms.

Card makers... do you plan your design for your cards....get inspiration from other places...use a sketch...copy someone's work and change the colors...just where does your inspiration come from?

My inspiration for today came from a piece of vellum and from a challenge sketch.
The vellum came in the mail from a company that was soliciting for a donation to a charity.  It was printed with flowers and had enough "white spaces" for me to  use on this card I've made today.  How fantastic was that....I didn't have to purchase it . Free inspiration!

This second card came about by visiting http://www.mojomonday.blogspot.com.  I liked the sketch but waited until today to play along.  My granddaughter sent me a little note and I wanted to send her something back.  I used the sketch to create a card for her.

"Vellum Overlay Card"

Hello Friends, Followers, Visitors and Viewers.
What a great Monday we are having after a very cold and blustery weekend.  I venture out Saturday and the wind was so fierce that I had to really brace myself while walking .  It was not so windy on Sunday but for me it was still cold (winter instead of spring).
Inspiration for cards comes from different places.  It may be something I saw on Google +, Pinterest, or other blog post.   I'm challenge when I see something that I like and I want to give it a try.  Last week I was playing around with water coloring and stamping.  Before I placed those items away, I saw where Jennifer McGuire, http://www.jennifermcguireink.com/2016/04/altenew-2.html did a post on using vellum as an overlay on a card.  I watched her video and decided to give it a try.  I didn't have the stamp she used but it didn't matter.  I did have some flower stamps in my file so I used what I had:

Since yesterday was National Siblings Day, I'm dedicating this card to all by siblings.  We know that God controls the things that happen in our lives so we will continue to let HIM rule.  With God all things are possible.  Have FAITH and BELIEVE!

I used a yellowish tint piece of vellum and  Neenah white cardstock;
Penny Black"s T for Transparent clear petal party stamp
Hampton Arts black pigment ink with Ranger super fine clear embossing powder.
Ranger Emboss it embossing clear ink with Ranger gold embossing powder
Akashiya Sai Watercolor Brush Pen (pink and green)

I had fun following Jennifer's instructions.  My stamping and coloring was much better today than last week.  I like the soft look of the vellum overlay.
