"Distress Oxide + Stencil + Water"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
Happy, happy Wednesday, May 17, 2017 to you.
We're in the middle of the week.  Some of us, as usual cannot wait until the weekend.  I know because that was the feeling I had when I was working.  Believe me, sometimes I feel that way now just working for myself (lol).
The three things, according to "National Day Calendar", to celebrate for today are:  MAY 17, 2017 – NATIONAL CHERRY COBBLER DAY | NATIONAL PACK RAT DAY | NATIONAL WALNUT DAY.
I can identify with all three.  I love cherry cobbler and walnuts.  I could make one and put some walnuts in it for today but would probably just look at it since my glucose has been up and down for the past week.  I don't want to end up in "emergency care" from eating  this.
Pack Rat, I'm not!  I have to keep a balance all around me.  When things start flowing over, I start getting rid of the excess.  My goal for this week (something I do every spring) is to get rid of some things out of my closet and donate them to the Salvation Army or Good Will.  The boxes have been collected and now all I have to do is to fill them up.

The card I made today will go in my file for a time when I  or someone else need to give it away.
Enabler's List:
  • cardstock...Neenah white, black Recollections, Bright and Basic Recollections paper pad, and Strathmore watercolor paper
  • inks...black Ranger archival ink and Distress Oxide (worn lipstick, fossilized amber, spiced marmalade)
  • stencil from Art C...interlock squares
  • die...Tonic Studio "Sweet Melia Beautiful Blooms
  • embellishments...NUVO red berry crystal drops and Recollections paper flowers
  • Recollections clear stamp
Process:
For the focal area, I used the watercolor paper.  I applied the Distress oxide from top to bottom in the following order, blending one into the other...fossilized amber, worn lipstick , fossilized amber, spiced marmalade.
The Art C stencil was placed on top of the distressed piece.  I used a wet paper towel to dab over the stencil in certain areas. The wet towel removed some of the distress oxide in those areas.
Next, the Tonic Studio die (three flowers taped together) were used to cut out areas to highlight the paper flowers as leaves.  The flowers were adhered to those cut-outs.
Using the Recollections clear stamp, I stamped a sentiment onto the card using Ranger black archival ink.  The very last thing (before adding the focal image to other layers of cardstock) was adding three NUVO crystal drops.

This card will be submitted to http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com

I always love to hear from you....if you're out there and have been just looking, let me know if you like what you see.  Sometimes you just have to step from behind the curtain and let someone know that you are here.

"Sending All My Supporters A Heartfelt Thanks"

Hello To Everyone,
Today is a gorgeous Friday.  The birds are singing.  The sun is up and shining brightly.  The weather forecast is calling for severe thunderstorms, hail and rain for this afternoon.
I'm busy, busy, preparing for a visit from my little "Sunshine".  When she talked with her grandfather on Monday, she told him she would be coming to see him this Saturday.  So,  a lot of my "good stuff" in the craft room will have to be secured (lol).  I love for her to go in and play but there are some items I just cannot let her play with (she may hurt herself).
Anyway, you know what I usually do on Friday.  Yes, I keep it very simple by using stuff I already have on hand:

Here, you have
  • Neenah white cardstock for the base
  • craft cardstock for the focal area using Avery Elle "wonky stitch elements die"
  • two die cut pieces from Tonic Studio "Sweet Melia die"
  • three flowers (I don't know what company ...loose flowers in my flower container)
  • three small hearts (probably left over from Valentine's day project and added to this card after the sentiment to tie everything together)
  • sentiment from Penny Black "heartfelt "stamp set ( the only thing new this morning)

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend.
Thanks for your viewing time and your lovely comments.

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"Distress Crayons With A Flower"

Thursday, March 2, 2017

Hello friends, visitors, followers and viewers.
We survived the storm.  We still have electricity...no trees fell during the wind.  We are just blessed and thankful.  I know that some people did have some damage from the storm that came through.   No lives were lost in our area but there are reports of this happening  towards the west of us.

The walk through my paper garden is about to come to an end for this week.  I'm sharing a card today and will make one more for tomorrow.
The one for today has a background made with distress crayons.  I started with scribbles of crayon and smooth it out with my fingers in some areas and a "damp" baby wipe in other areas.  The baby wipe was one that had almost dried but still had enough wetness to smooth the crayon on the paper.  If you use a really wet wipe, it will take the crayon away.   Ranger has numbered the containers for the Distress Crayons.  I used #1 and #2 for this project.

From the national day calendar.com...NATIONAL OLD STUFF DAY
Always observed on March 2nd, National Old Stuff Day is a day to give notice to all that old stuff and try something new. Well, maybe not ALL the old stuff, but some of it. It’s a day to break out of the old routines and try something new.

Something old on this project is Tonic Studio's "Sweet Melia" die and Hero Arts " Hello" stamp & cuts die.  The newness on this card is the coloring with Ranger's Distress Crayons:

Thanks for viewing with me today.  If you want one more day of walking through the paper flower garden, then come back tomorrow.

"After Christmas Do You Still Have Wishes?"

Thursday, January 12, 2017
Hello to all my friends, followers, visitors and viewers.  I'm glad you could stop by today to see what is happening here on LilArtsyWoman.
Christmas is over.  It is about three weeks old by now,.  Do you still have wishes that you want to come true?   Yes, you do!
My granddaughter is still wishing for a phone that she asked for.  When grandma, mom, dad and neither Santa didn't deliver.... she is still wishing. (She is not old enough to have an iPhone 5, 6 or7 at eight years old).
Some people had birthdays immediately following Christmas and their wish was to get what they didn't get on Christmas for their birthday.
Today, I'm wishing that all your wishes come true.  Whether it is for a gift, or for something else:

Anything Goes - Challenge Weeks #264-265

Supplies used from the cardbase to top focal layer:
I started with Recollections burgundy cardstock for my base
I added Designer paper from Create and Craft (burgundy and blue floral), followed by a layer of Recollections black cardstock.  The focal area is Neenah white cardstock.  On top of this piece I used a Tim Holtz stencil (splatters) and two Ranger distress inks (stormy sky and seedless preserves).
On a scrap piece of Ranger watercolor paper, I used the seedless preserves  to obtain the colors shown in the flowers which were die cut using tonic studio (beautiful blooms-sweet melia).
The sentiment comes from Fiskars (Make a Wish Quotes).  It was stamped using black Hampton Arts ink.

Thanks for visiting with me today.  Thanks for the comments you have left on this site.

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois

"TRUST....Someone, Something, Yourself"

Wednesday, January 11, 2017
Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.  It's the middle of the week and a lot has happened since Sunday and there is still more to come for the remainder of the week.
A lot of slush is happening today due to the sun melting the snow.
I'm  probably sure the children will go back to school tomorrow and everything will fall back to being "normal".
The big question I'm asking today is:  Who or What do you TRUST?
In June of 2010, Ann Naylor wrote on this topic. "Do you ever fear for the future, or doubt that government and business enterprise will make wise choices for the greatest good? Do you  trust others to act responsibly? Who or what, if anything, do you feel you can trust these days? Do you trust yourself?"  That was 2010, and here, I'm asking the same thing in 2017.
Someone: Husband, wife, family member, teacher, boss, athlete, actor, actress, government official, etc.  Just how much can you trust them?  If they are flaky or shaky can you build a trusting relationship with them?
Something: There are so many ads and commercials trying to make you believe in a product.  You may purchase something based on that ad or commercial thinking that it is going to work as presented.  Do you trust a product before making a purchase?
Yourself: Here is where things gets a little interesting.  Do you believe trusting yourself is simple?
Can you do what you say you will do?   Do you  not agree to what you will not fulfil?  Are you  willing to renegotiate agreements that you are unable to keep?

I made a card with this question in mind today:

Supplies for making this card:
Neenah white cardstock; Recollections blue cardstock; Designer paper from Create and Craft; Ranger watercolor paper
Distress ink used: stormy sky from Ranger
The envelopes were made using double sided paper.  Since I only needed a small piece, I pulled pieces from my paper stash and made four envelops with faux Recollections gems attached to the flap.
I used a die from Tonic studio called "sweet melia" to cut out the blue swirly vine.
The tag with the sentiment "trust yourself" came from K and Company.

I always present a question and let you think on the answer.  I cannot answer for you.
I  start first with trusting God and then myself because I believe He has given me the the knowledge and ability to do just that.  In trusting God first, then, you will be able to have self trust.  Trusting yourself will lead to trusting others.   Don't you agree?

Thanks for viewing the card even if you didn't read the post.  Your comments are always welcome.

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois
