"A Great Look From Tissue Paper"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers. 
I experimented with "tissue paper".  The kind that you really suppose to use in the box or bag when you're wrapping a gift.
Well, I saw a video where Jennifer McGuire was using the kind that leaves color behind once you put it down, let it dry and remove it.
I had to test out my tissue paper, hoping it would do the same....no, it didn't.   Did that stop me?  No, it didn't.

• I looked at my art supplies and pulled out the bottle of gesso.  I applied some to a piece of Neenah white cardstock,  crumble or squashed  some light blue tissue paper to it and waited for it to dry.
• I used another piece of Neenah white cardstock , applied yellow gelato ink in the center with a blending brush and blue gelato ink around the yellow.  With the blue, I used a crumble piece of tissue paper to make the blue appear as if it had texture....pretty, pretty, pretty! 
• The gelato piece was cut down smaller than the tissue piece and placed on top of it.  I wanted the tissue piece to show (it has texture).
• I stamped a flower on top of the gelato piece using the Penny Black blooming garden stamp set.
• I used a red and black Crayola marker to color the flower. 
• From K & Company empherma, I used one of the small dragonflies to adhere to the card. 
• The word "hello" was on the desk, so I adhered that to this card also. 
• Various pieces of cardstock that coordinated with the finish piece were layered to the back of it before finally adding the card base.

"Distress Crayons With A Flower"

Hello friends, visitors, followers and viewers.
We survived the storm.  We still have electricity...no trees fell during the wind.  We are just blessed and thankful.  I know that some people did have some damage from the storm that came through.   No lives were lost in our area but there are reports of this happening  towards the west of us.

The walk through my paper garden is about to come to an end for this week.  I'm sharing a card today and will make one more for tomorrow.
The one for today has a background made with distress crayons.  I started with scribbles of crayon and smooth it out with my fingers in some areas and a "damp" baby wipe in other areas.  The baby wipe was one that had almost dried but still had enough wetness to smooth the crayon on the paper.  If you use a really wet wipe, it will take the crayon away.   Ranger has numbered the containers for the Distress Crayons.  I used #1 and #2 for this project.

Always observed on March 2nd, National Old Stuff Day is a day to give notice to all that old stuff and try something new. Well, maybe not ALL the old stuff, but some of it. It’s a day to break out of the old routines and try something new.

Something old on this project is Tonic Studio's "Sweet Melia" die and Hero Arts " Hello" stamp & cuts die.  The newness on this card is the coloring with Ranger's Distress Crayons:

"Hello Friday"

Hello Friends, Followers, Visitors and Viewers.
We often greet one another with the word "hello".
When answering the telephone, our first response is "hello".
If my granddaughter has done or said something that is not appropriate and I have to repeat my response  to her, I'll say, "hello", did you hear me?
"Hello" has been the most popular sentiment used on a handmade card, lately.  Looking back over some of the pages containing cards I've made...many include that sentiment.
Adele's "hello" lyrics have been playing in my head for a couple of days now and I'm going to assume those lyrics prompted this card for  today.
Supplies used:

• Neenah white, Recollection red cardstock
• DP from Recollection Christmas paper pack along with a piece from my stash
• topper taken from a notecard from botanica natural
• faux pearls from Michael's store
• Ranger distress inks: fossilized amber and fried brick

Challenge Weeks #248-249 - Anything Goes

Hello Friday!  I've been waiting for you all week.  It has been very busy for me this week and I can relax some today.   My Saturday will be another busy day so just let me calm down and start again.

"Being Partial"

Hello my friends, followers, visitors and viewers. Welcome to the beginning of another week!  I hope that you all enjoyed your Father's Day weekend and that you got to spend some time with family!
You know I'm always surfing around for new ideas to try and I saw one that perked my interest.
There is no name for this, at least not from me.  I just liked what I saw and tried my hands at it..."partial coloring and partial die cutting".  I just had to try out this technique.  I'm really happy with how this turned out.

I started with a piece of Neenah white cardstock cut at  4" x 5 2/8".  I used the Our Daily Bread double stitched rectangle to die cut the panel but placed tape on the back to keep it together.  I cut another panel from the white cardstock at 4 1/8 "  x  3" and used another double stitched die on that piece...again using tape to keep it together.  I placed the smaller panel on top of the larger panel and stamped the flower image.  The smaller panel was colored with American Craft pens.  Sequins were added for embellishments.

On this card, I cut a 5 x 3 3/4 piece of Ranger water color paper.  I stamped the butterfly image "partially" at the top left and bottom right .  The double stitched rectangle die was used to cut out part of the card.  This time, I separated the piece and matted it with black Recollection cardstock before adhering it back to the card with foam dots.  I used American Craft pens to color the butterfly, partially.

I used a rectangle die on  both of these cards but you could also use a square, circle or whatever shape you want to use in your panel with what ever kind of layering dies you like to use.

"Overcoming Murphy's Law"

It's Friday.  Are you ready for a fun filled weekend?  By the time I communicate with you on Monday, we would have changed our calendars over to May.  Mother's Day, Teacher Appreciation Week, Memorial Day.....
I'm just sharing cards today because I'm experiencing what is called "Murphy's Law".  Murphy's law is an adage or epigram that is typically stated as: Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.  
I'm not even going to go into the things that have happened since Wednesday.  So, to take the easy way out, I'm just posting some cards that almost didn't make it:

"Hello, Hello, Hello World"

Good Wednesday morning friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
How many times should you speak to a person before they decide to speak back to you?

There are some people you approach with "Good Morning", or "Good Afternoon, or "Hello" and they  will not open their mouth, wave their hand or nod their head to respond to you.  They pretend they didn't hear you.  You know you spoke loud enough for them to hear,  but they tell  you that fib and say, "Oh, I didn't hear you speak to me".   Or, they will say, "I didn't know you were talking to me".

I thought I would just ask that question.  It has happened to me a number of times.  I speak and the recipient looks at me as if I've just slapped them in the face instead of offering a courtesy to today's meet and greet.

The cards I've made are NOT for people who don't speak.  Instead, they are made because sometimes you just want to reach out to someone with a "hello".   You have been thinking about them and a "hello" is another way of letting them know they are on your mind.
Two of these cards were made for challenges:

This first card was made for  Mojo Monday 433 Contest.

• The entire card (base, mats and focal area) was made from cardstock that came from Craft Smith Burgundy Rose paper pad.
• The sentiment "hello" was cut with Cricut Explore in the Design Space
• Martha Stewart butterfly that coordinated with the cardstock  was placed on the upper left hand corner

• Neenah white cardstock for the A2 base
• green Recollection cardstock for the matting and design paper from Recollection
• K & Company vellum butterfly
• sentiment ...computer and printer generated
• We R Memory designer ribbon

This third card is scraps that I had left over from other projects and put them together.  

The picture had been colored and put aside months ago...the sentiment  "hello world" had been cut out using the Cricut Explore and also put aside.  The butterfly was missing the foam backing (no problem...I always have something to use for adherence). The only piece that was new was the (middle) brown mat that I cut out to separate the Kraft mat that has a die cut window using Tim Holtz's Mix Media die from the A2 beige base.

Finally, I say to you again, hello, hello, hello world...are you there?

Are You In Control?

Hello Followers, Friends and Viewers,

The weather report was right on target for this past Saturday.  It snowed!   It was pretty and even better for some, it didn't stick like it did in some other parts of the state.

Remember when I talked about the National Calendar Day.  Today we should be celebrating National Doctors Day; National Pencil Day; National Take a Walk in the Park Day and National I Am in Control Day.

My doctor left my area and I’m looking for a qualified person to replace or take the place of my primary care physician. I’ll leave this one to someone else.  I've used my pencils especially the eraser part so much that I need some brand new ones.  Any takers on sending me some?  I’ll celebrate this one.  It is raining and a little too cold to walk outside today.  National Take a Walk in the Park Day will happen later on this week but not today.  National I Am in Control Day.  Yeah, this one is really for me when I get my crafting items in front of me.  I cut, glue, punch, stamp, color, etc., to my heart’s content.

So, take a look at what I could control today… 

Supplies and Technique: beige Bazzill cardstock cut at 3 ¾ wide by 6 inches long; DCWV Heirloom stack for mat on top (it was a postcard that I just cut around and glued on top of the cardstock); DCWV the Timeless Type Stack and Botanique Stack was used for the patterned paper inside the card cut at 3 5/8 by 5 7/8; a piece of burlap 3” by 3” was folded into the shape of a vase and pinned down with two brown brads; Martha Stewart flower stickers (6 of them) were placed down followed by 2 Recollection floral embellishment; Sentiment came from Cosmo Cricket Tiny Text.  There you have it, another clean and simple design.
