"World Teachers' Day"

 Happy Monday, October 5, 2020.

Happy World Teacher's Day.  The United Nations' (UN) World Teachers' Day celebrates the role teachers play in providing quality education at all levels. This enables children and adults of all ages to learn to take part in and contribute to their local community and global society.

My profession before retirement was in the teaching profession.  I spent thirty-one and a half years mostly with elementary children.  I once thought that teaching from home would be nice but since the pandemic, my thoughts have changed.  Talking to numerous teachers who are still working, trying to maintain a virtual as well as in house classroom requires a lot of planning and a lot of patience.  No one has admitted to virtual learning being nice or easy or smooth.  There are so many problems with technology not only with virtual learning but it shows up in all areas of the spectrum...your bank; at the grocery store; your going online to shop...problems, problems, problems.  However, I still support all people in the profession today and wish that the remainder of the school year will continue to go smooth.

Here are cards I've made since the last time I posted:

"Put Your Best Foot Forward and Good Things Will Follow.  I used a photo from CraftsUprint.  The flowers are decoupaged.
"HUGS" is another photo from CraftsUprint.  the flowers are handmade and the die cut behind the bear comes from Aliexpress.
I submitted this card on Saturday in honor of World Card Making Day.  It started as a piece of cardstock that I used to cut out some flower vines.  Since it left such a beautiful cut out image, I added another piece of cardstock behind the cut out section.  I found a quote online that had something to do with fall and leaves.  Using my Microsoft program and my printer, I copied this quote onto a white piece of paper and cut out another section to use as a die cut for my quote.
This card was created today in honor of World Teacher's Day.  Thinking of all my peers and colleagues who are still working in the classroom...virtual as well as in house teaching.  The flowers are handmade using a TH poinsettia die.  Behind the poinsettia is another die from Aliexpress as well as the window. the cat and the vase.  This will be added to https://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com

Thanks for viewing and please come again.

"I'm Back From Our Vacation"

Hello, hello, hello to all the beautiful people that I have missed.
We went on vacation up to Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts.  For two  nights (Monday and Friday) we slept in Connecticut.  On Tuesday thru Thursday we slept in  Provincetown, Cape Cod Massachusetts.  We toured Martha's Vineyard on Thursday and Hyannis on Friday.  What a great time to relax and let someone else fix your meals and make your bed.  The weather was great.  We only experienced rain when we were entering Virginia on Saturday.   I'm glad our trip was last week instead of this week.  Everyone we met said it was a great time to visit because the week of July 4th would have been very crowded and heavy traffic.
I rested and recuperated on yesterday but this morning I had to die cut and put together something to get back into the swing of crafting.   (I was really good at not buying crafting goodies on my trip.  It was due to not seeing any crafting stores near the places we visited...lol).
Here is my share for today and just a few pictures of some places we visited:

"Just Sharing"

It's Friday, June 21, 2019.  It is also the first day, officially, summer.  The temps have prepared us for this day for quite some time.  Sweating and getting lazy with 90+ degrees has been going on for almost a month.  The thunderstorms, lightning  and heavy rain also has let us know it is summer.
Approaching the weekend, what are you planning on doing.  Are you heading to the beach or going to an amusement park?  Are you packing for an early summer vacation before it gets hotter in July?
Since we were out and about on yesterday, our weekend will be more of on the relaxing side.  We entertained our daughter, her husband and little sunshine last weekend so we are not expecting visitors.
Ladies, are you walking by faith even if you cannot see your way? "She who walks by Faith wins by Favor: God’s favor can make an extraordinary difference in your life, but it will not happen automatically; it has to be “turned on” in much the same way as you turn on the lights in your house. The power of electricity is always there, but the lights won’t come on until you turn on the switch.  As a believer, you need to release the power of favor that God has already made available.
God wants to bless you, personally, with His favor. As you enlarge your mindset to expect and believe for His favor, and as you open your mouth to confess God’s promises, you can find favor with God and man!
Here is your inspiration for today:
Enjoy your weekend.
I will share with you again on July 1.  We are going on vacation next week and I'm taking a break from creating.  He (the DH) has told me to not bring anything related to crafting...laugh out loud!!!
Trust me, since he made that statement...he didn't say that I could not buy anything related to crafting so he shall see...laugh out loud!!!

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois

"A Struggle With The Sentiment"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
I'm very happy that you could join me today on this Tuesday, January 29, 2019.
To all of my Midwest viewers, please be safe in the negative degrees you all are experiencing.  I was listening to Dylan Dreyer on NBC this morning, who is in the Midwest on an assignment.  She reported how cold it was and how it was making her eyes water and the tears were freezing.  Another report from her mentioned that with the temperatures there along with the wind chill factor, if you stayed outside for five minutes you could have frostbite and a possibility that your eyeballs could freeze.  WTW?  I had never heard of this.  Maybe the reason is that I've never experience temperatures in the negative double digits in my part of the world.  I thought 12 degrees about two weeks ago was bad where I live.  Our little area will have rain changing into snow this afternoon.  My daughter has been talking about how the temperature in Florida dropped to an uncomfortable feeling.   We all have to be careful as well as taking care of ourselves in this weather.

I struggled this morning with putting a sentiment on the card I made.  I looked at the image and thought: It could be a Sympathy card due to the birds that looked like doves.  It could be a Valentine's Day card due to the hearts.  It could be a wedding card due to both the birds, the hearts and the connection.  Should I leave the sentiment off or should I complete the card?   I ended up putting the word "love" in the inside.  This one word will satisfy at least two ideas (wedding and Valentine).  I would love to hear from you and to get your honest opinion.

Here is the card:
Supplies I used:
cardstock: Paperandmore white pearlescent;  Tim Holtz Kraft-Stock Metallic;  vellum
dies: Spellbinders Grate Effect;  Spellbinders Gothic Strip;  Spellbinders Tallulah Frill;  AliExpress dove/heart, "love"and scallop circles;
embellishment: white scallop ribbon; TPC studio silver self adhesive accents

Have you ever struggled with a sentiment after making a card or did you already know what the sentiment would be.  I'm in a habit of putting a card together and then the sentiment comes last.  How many of you do the same?  Other times, I know what kind of card I would be making and have decided on the sentiment before cutting out the cardstock.

Thanks for your time, your comments and your support.  Let's stay connected.

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois
