January 29, 2025...What Did You Miss?

 Hello again, my dear friends,

Checking out my post for the month, I've missed some crafty items I made.  I want to share these today before the month is over. I will be busy the next two days of January and will not post again until February.

Take a look at some of the items I made for your view.  Yes, I still make cards for the "Cards For Soldiers Program" and "Cards For Kindness".  Some people want me to make specific cards for them.   I'm not interested in getting involved with that.  What about you?

Take a look:

You will see this card on https://wordartwednesday.blogspot.com/

A fun card for Valentine's Day

Love doing something funny for Friday

I am trying to get into jewelry making.   My granddaughter inspired me.

Thanks for your time,
Lois

"May The Fourth"

Hello beautiful people on this Monday, May 4, 2020.
Sorry, I'm not into Star Wars so don't expect a blog commentary on that subject.  We all know the pandemic is still on the move.  I have no comments in that area neither.
The weekend is over and we have reached the month of May.  I am a former teacher so to all my peers who are still in the profession...Happy National Teacher Appreciation Week.  I can only send you a virtual bouquet, hug and candy to support the process and progress that is still being made by all.  Your classrooms may look a lot different as of this day and time but the joy of knowing you are still making an impression on the minds of others whether little or big.
I have two projects to share with you today.  They are both for Mother's Day.  As a matter of fact, one can be used just to show "LOVE" during any occasion.
Our topic from our Pastor was on Wisdom.  I am not writing my own comments today, however, just think about your Mom whether living or have passed on, does/did she inspire wisdom in you?
I used Stamperia "Old Lace" paper pad to make this card along with flowers from Prima and a button from my stash.  The die cut leaves are from a Tim Holtz die.
The card in which I named "Mother" is made from the following:
Cardstock: chipboard covered with Mulberry paper that has been crinkled.  White Distress ink was applied with a stencil to go over some of the crinkles and to make a path at the bottom of the card.
A chipboard filmstrip was used to represent a step-up ladder for the lady (an Aliexpress die).  The dog and the banner are also from Aliexpress.
I placed a shaker element in the far right corner.  Behind the element is a piece of cardstock with a pink rose.  Below the shaker is a bunch of Prima flowers which are also pink.  I can never finish a card without a butterfly or faux gems.  This project uses the butterfly from Prima.
If you follow me on WordArtWednesday this card will appear there:  https://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com.

Thanks everyone for viewing with me today.  Remember, Mother's Day is this Sunday, May 10, 2020.  If you cannot take her out to dinner or visit her, make her something pretty and put it in the mail before this weekend.

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois

"Purple & Blue"

Happy Thursday beautiful people.
It's a beautiful day in my neighborhood.  Ready to take in the walks and enjoy the fresh air and mild temperatures.  I'm not a fan of football but my guy friends are excited about the nice weather and  high school football games .  They are ready for the tailgating that happens every Friday night at the local high schools.
Today, I made one card but will be sharing two.  Why?  Yesterday afternoon, I had the opportunity to make a card for a sketch using one provided by Splitcoaststampers.  I already had paper pads on my desk so I decided to play along.  This site doesn't offer gifts or incentives.  I just love the challenge of using a sketch to make a card when the "old brain" can't think of a layout.

Here is the card without a sentiment.  This is how it looks on Splitcoaststampers.com

Here is the same card with a sentiment that I added this morning.  It will be placed in the card box for soldiers.Paper: Recollections light purple; Recollections dark purple; Moda Scrap "Fly & Scrap" paper pad
Paper Size: 6 X 6
Accessories: DecoArt Snow Writer; Glossy Accents; Studio G white glitter glue; Aliexpress flower die
Techniques: followed SC767 sketch

Here is the card I made this morning
This will be entered on
http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com
Paper:  Moda Scrap "Fly & Scrap" paper pad; Hunkydory pattern paper; Recollections black cardstock; Neenah white cardstock
embellishments: Prima flowers; Thickers from American Craft; ribbon from Walmart
die: Tim Holtz skelton flowers die and Spellbinders flower die

So many people I know from family and friends have birthdays in September.  This is another birthday card that will be passed on to someone special.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope something you saw will be inspirational to you so that you can create it in your own way.  Please come again.

Sending  a hug and love,
Lois

I'm On Another Twofer Roll"

Hello beautiful people.
Another day of good finds that had gone unnoticed in my crafting space.
What do you do with them?  I made a promise to myself that I would organize and throw away things that really couldn't be used...absolutely trash.  In my organizing, I've come across items that were still usable but had been pushed under of stuck to something else.  I will not buy or intend to buy anything else for the next four to five months.  The truth of the matter is this,  I don't have anywhere to put it.  My file cabinet is full...my storage containers are full and I'm trying to empty some boxes to remove them out of my way.   Ladies and gentlemen, my DH has stopped by my space and just shook his head in disbelief.  The question being asked is..."do you really need all that stuff"?  The answer I'm giving to him is "yes".  Who can craft without butterflies, paper, sticker, flowers, dies, stencils, stamps and paints (lol)?
Well, here are two more cards made with finds from yesterday:
I remember cutting out this frame when I was in a die-cutting swap.  Each recipient had to receive ten die cut items.  Instead of using dies and my die cutting machine, it was easier for me to use my Cricut and cut out dies to save my hands from hurting.
I paired this with some watercolor paper. I used some Dollar Tree gems, Recollections butterfly and a sentiment from another Recollections package of stickers.
This beauty came about by using a sheet of watercolor paper that I had painted with Distress Oxide inks.  This was layered on top of a woodgrain sheet from ms. sparkle & co paper pad.  The doilies were previously die cut and I took them out of my stash to go with the sentiment that also came from my stash.  To get rid of some of the butterflies, I used two more with a mixture of Prima flowers.

Love and friendship does make a nice couple of cards for any day of the week.  Again, these will be added to the box for soldiers.

Thanks for viewing and I hope you return soon.

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois

"Creating From My Stash"

Happy Friday and Welcome to the weekend everyone.
First, I would like to blow kisses all the way to North Carolina to wish my "Sunshine" a very happy, happy 11th birthday.  I'll get to tell her in person later on.  If not today, then tomorrow.
It has been a very busy week for me with some glitches in my daily routine.  We had a storm in which the electricity kept flickering on and off.  The next day the internet service was down most of the day.  When I got a chance to post, then we had a visitor who stopped by. Yesterday was another one of those days that I made cards but could not get them posted to this blog but you may have seen them floating around on Instagram and Scrapbook.com.
Today's schedule is not that crowded.  I've once again pulled items from my stash to make quick and easy cards.  Take a look at my projects:

http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com
This card was simply made by taking paper scraps that blend well together and adhering them down in different directions.  I pulled out my bag of ribbons and laces and found this lace flower which was adhered to the center of the focal panel.  Out of my die cut words, I selected "grateful" to place as the sentiment.  Grateful is how I am feeling.  So many wonderful things have happened that I'm grateful for. The good things are outweighing the bad things and God is Good all the time.
These are scraps that I saved from being trashed this morning.  Therefore, I really can't tell you what pad they came from.
This is a Christmas card that came together from using die cuts from my stash and from stickers in my file cabinet.  When I received the Sizzix die set of circle words, I cut all the dies out using different pieces of cardstock.  I had been playing around with making cards for Christmas in July.  This was an easy one because all I had to do was cut the black and red cardstock down to size for the white card.  I added the branch die cut at the top because it would go well with the ornaments I had cut out previously.  To spruce the card up a little more, I added jolee's boutique Christmas stickers (wreath and candy canes).  This came together as a cute Christmas card.

I'm preparing to visit "Sunshine" and her family this weekend.  I hope your weekend will be enjoyable also.  Take a little time to breathe, relax and have fun.
Thanks for a little bit of your time.  Come again...you are so welcome.

Sending you a hug and love.

"A Struggle With The Sentiment"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
I'm very happy that you could join me today on this Tuesday, January 29, 2019.
To all of my Midwest viewers, please be safe in the negative degrees you all are experiencing.  I was listening to Dylan Dreyer on NBC this morning, who is in the Midwest on an assignment.  She reported how cold it was and how it was making her eyes water and the tears were freezing.  Another report from her mentioned that with the temperatures there along with the wind chill factor, if you stayed outside for five minutes you could have frostbite and a possibility that your eyeballs could freeze.  WTW?  I had never heard of this.  Maybe the reason is that I've never experience temperatures in the negative double digits in my part of the world.  I thought 12 degrees about two weeks ago was bad where I live.  Our little area will have rain changing into snow this afternoon.  My daughter has been talking about how the temperature in Florida dropped to an uncomfortable feeling.   We all have to be careful as well as taking care of ourselves in this weather.

I struggled this morning with putting a sentiment on the card I made.  I looked at the image and thought: It could be a Sympathy card due to the birds that looked like doves.  It could be a Valentine's Day card due to the hearts.  It could be a wedding card due to both the birds, the hearts and the connection.  Should I leave the sentiment off or should I complete the card?   I ended up putting the word "love" in the inside.  This one word will satisfy at least two ideas (wedding and Valentine).  I would love to hear from you and to get your honest opinion.

Here is the card:
Supplies I used:
cardstock: Paperandmore white pearlescent;  Tim Holtz Kraft-Stock Metallic;  vellum
dies: Spellbinders Grate Effect;  Spellbinders Gothic Strip;  Spellbinders Tallulah Frill;  AliExpress dove/heart, "love"and scallop circles;
embellishment: white scallop ribbon; TPC studio silver self adhesive accents

Have you ever struggled with a sentiment after making a card or did you already know what the sentiment would be.  I'm in a habit of putting a card together and then the sentiment comes last.  How many of you do the same?  Other times, I know what kind of card I would be making and have decided on the sentiment before cutting out the cardstock.

Thanks for your time, your comments and your support.  Let's stay connected.

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois

Keeping Up With #LOVE"

Thursday, January 19, 2017

Hello, hello, hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.  It is almost here!  What?  The weekend! Yay!  You thought I was going to mention something else didn't you?  I know you did but enough of "that" is going on elsewhere.  Today is a great day and it is going well and I don't want any spoilers to mess it up.

I looked back on the cards I had made for the week and they all looked like Valentine's Day cards or cards that can be used for that occasion.  So, why not continue the tradition today and make another one.  Since I have all the hearts and files with Valentine's Day materials on my desk it became an easy task.
Supplies I used to create the card:

  • Neenah white cardstock; red dotted Bazzill cardstock;
  • dies: Spellbinders Vines of Passion (heart); Spellbinders Mariza' Bouquet (green leaves); Spellbinders Swirl Bliss (opening in the middle of card); small hearts that came from using a Cricut cartridge ( Artbooking).
  • stamp: Heidi Swapp stamp set - The Big Day "Save the Dates" (#LOVE)
  • Embellishments: Petaloo textured red blossoms
Enjoy the view:

"This May Have To Be A Do-Over"

Monday, January 16, 2017

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
Some of you are having a holiday from work and from school.  Your weekend has been extended to include one more day.  What are your plans for enjoying your day off.  I know of a group that has gone shopping or as they say "walking the mall to get their exercise in".

I'm getting ready for the 14th of February. Is it too soon?  I don't think so.   My podiatrist and I just had a conversation about how the month is almost over and in a blink of the eye...February will be here.   I think before the Christmas items could be dismantle in the stores...Valentine's Day items were beginning to be displayed.  I have some cards to make so today features the first one for 2017.

How the card was made:
I started by using distress inks (spun sugar and stormy sky) on a piece of Ranger watercolor paper.  I stamped the male figure from the dylusions "mini couture" stamp set three times on three different pieces of cardstock (white, brown, blue) as well as on the watercolor paper  The cardstock  were later cut apart for the pieces I needed to do the paper piecing (coat, shirt, pants, hat).
Once my image was pieced together on top of the distressed watercolor paper, I then mounted it on top of a piece of black Recollections cardstock.  A polka dotted piece of brown and beige was added to the left side.  The whole piece was then layered on top of a Recollections Mixed Media piece of cardstock and then to the Neenah white card base.
I cut out various sizes of hearts using a Spellbinders heart die and used black Recollections cardstock for the background.  They were strategically placed around the sentiment (Recollections Mixed Media cardstock layered on top of a piece of black Recollections cardstock....stamped with the word "Love" from a Tim Holtz stampers anonymous stamp set  using embossing ink and white embossing powder).

There is a mistake that I caught just as I was taking the photo for this blog.  I tried to correct it but it doesn't look professional.   Sometimes I don't post my mistakes but today I am because I want you to know...I'm human....and humans make mistakes.   I going to do this one over properly and give this one to my granddaughter...she may not be able to pick out the mistake.
Thanking you for your visit and for your comments.  Have a great day.

Sending you a hug and LOVE,
Lois
