"Sometimes That Project Is Not Your Best"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
It's Friday and I know you knew that.  We are ready for the weekend which will kick off the weekly vacation for some.  Some jobs will close down for a week- long holiday due to the celebration of the Fourth of July on Wednesday.  Some people will work Monday and Tuesday and have the remainder of the week off.  I'm sorry for those of you who will only have Wednesday off next week. Your time will come...wait for it.

Yes, it's Friday and I used what was left over on my desk.
It took me more time than I wanted to spend on card making this morning because I did not like the first card I made.  At first, I thought about not posting at all.  Then, I used a few minutes to make another card since I had material left over.  I decided to show the disappointed one as well as the one that I was pleased with.
Here is the one that gave me satisfaction:

entry for http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com

Here is the one that didn't satisfy me:
You will probably say that you don't see anything wrong and that could be correct.  However, the second one which was the first one I made did not quite suit my taste after I had place everything on the card base.  I added too much torn paper and that didn't balance the card the way I wanted it to go.  I think there were too many butterflies.  If I had just left one in the middle it would have toned down the focus a little more.
Some of you may say you prefer this one over the one at the top.  That one may be a little "busy" and not proportion.  But, my eyes focus more on the first one than the second.  You decide and let me know.

Enabler's list:
cardstock: Neenah white;  Recollections taupe;  pattern paper from Authentique and Prima paper pads (I had torn a sheet of paper from each book to use for a card earlier this week).
die cuts: doily(Ali Express), butterflies (Martha Stewart medium and small punch) and flowers (Tim Holtz wildflowers) that had been previously cut out.
embellishments: Offray lace ribbon;  twisted paper;  cardboard; flowers from my stash; sparkling clear droplets from Kat Scrappiness (the only new item today).   The letters to spell out the word "Love" came from TH wondering word die cuts (so old).  One of the pieces of pattern paper had words on it so I fussy cut of the words "embrace life" and added it as a sentiment.

With so few items left on my desk this week, it was really "ruff" in coming up with a solution for today's card.  Any way, I hope you enjoyed the view and please visit me again.
Love reading your comments and I really look forward to seeing what you think about these two cards.

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois

"I'm Doing Something Special Today"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
We are in the middle.   The middle of the week that is...Wednesday,  June 27, 2018.  Only three more days before we enter the month of July. One half of the year is almost gone and then we start counting down to Christmas. For crafters, Christmas is in July.  Say what!!! Christmas crafting is in July.  Start watching the ads and start getting those Christmas cards ready so you want have to rush when December gets here.  There may be some contest on the horizon as they have been in the past.
No Christmas card today from me, however, I'm doing something special today....
"I'm Thinking Of You".  Yes, I am.  The National Day Calendar says we are to reach out to those suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).  Do you know someone who will be included in this category?  Think about your Armed Service Personnel, your victims of violent crimes, and/or  your individuals who have lived through catastrophic events.  They all will fit into this category.  We are thinking about them today.  Wondering if everything is okay.

Take a look at my share for today and enjoy:

"Happy Anniversary"

Good Tuesday, June 26, 2018 to All.
Let's focus on "anniversaries" today.
  • the date on which an event took place in a previous year
  • the date on which a country or other institution was founded in a previous year
  • the date on which a couple was married in a previous year
  • the date on which a romance began in a previous month or week
Next week we will be celebrating the Fourth Of July here in the USA.  Some will say it is an annual anniversary.
If not this week but next week, someone will be celebrating a birthday.  Again, it can be considered an anniversary.
If you're NOT married but is still dating the same person and you celebrate the date you began a relationship, then that can be considered an anniversary.
You are cancer free and have been for an amount of time.  Each year can be an anniversary to your survival.
Before I forget, and I have on some occasions forgotten my daughter and son-in-love's wedding anniversary, post a card that I made to help them celebrate.  Their anniversary is in July:

an entry  for http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com
Enabler's List:
cardstock: linen cream cardstock from PaperandMore as well as the platinum cardstock
dies:  I used two dies that are from Ali Express (a doily and a frame die)
embellishment: lace flower from Ali Express and glitter glue from Studio g

What anniversary are you celebrating?  birthday, wedding, health, etc.?  It doesn't matter which one it is, just have fun and enjoy.

Thanks for coming to view with me today.  You are always welcome.  Your comments are always appreciated.

"It's Friday And You Know What That Means"

Hello followers, visitors, friends and viewers.
It's Friday and most of you all know what challenge I do on Fridays.  If you don't, here is a reminder.  What's left on my desk gets created into a card on Friday.  I've been very organized and didn't have that much left this week so it really was a challenge.  What I could find was pieces of cardstock from a paper pad I was using earlier this week and  some faux gems left over from when my granddaughter came to visit.
Let me tell you the reason the faux gems were on my desk.
Grandmothers or I shall say this grandmother did something that  she knew she would not have done with her children...I painted my "Sunshine's nails with some "smoke silver" looking nail polish.  She asked me if I had some glitter or stickers small enough to put on her nails.  I didn't have any.  She started looking through a basket that I keep glue and pens and other stuff like gems in it.  Since the gems were small, she had an "ah ha" moment.  This grandmother used about four gems to put on four of her painted fingernails.  I didn't use any glue  so whatever glue dot was on the back of the gem was all we used to adhere the gems to her nails. I expressed to her that they would soon come off.  Just for a few moments of pleasure was all she wanted.  The little package was left on the desk until this morning.  I had a laughable moment when I realized the reason they were there and what I had used them for.
So, here is the card I made with mostly the left over cardstock and the gems.  I remembered that I had not made my weekly bible journaling card so I did have to pull out a sentiment to connect all of this together.
Enjoy:
entry for http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com
Enabler's Information:
I used the Kanban's Vintage Glamour paper pad that was left over from other creations this week.  I cut out a panel and used a Spellbinders die on the edge of the pattern as well as the solid piece.  These two were off set before placing them on top of another solid piece.  I fussy cut some of the flowers and leaves from the left over piece for decoupaging.  After layering those pieces on top of one another, I used the gems to represent the stamens.  I had some butterflies also from a project this week so I glued three die cuts together to make three sets.  They were adhere to the panel.  I knew I had not completed my bible journaling card for the week so I decided to make this project into my submission.  I pull out a bible journaling stamp and stamped the sentiment "Pray without Ceasing" onto the card using Distress ink... ripe persimmon.  Three more faux pearls were added beside the sentiment.

Thanks for viewing with me today.  Have a lovely fun time this weekend.  Please come again and thank you so much for the comments you have made.

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois

"Bountiful Teacup"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers on this Thursday, June 21, 2018.
Happy first day of summer.  It came before the calendar could announce it.  With summer we experience severe storms in which we have already been given the warning this morning.  Along with the thunder and lightning will be hail.   So, with severe weather and high temperatures, we will get as much done outside before it comes.
Before the task of outside work, I want you to take a look at my project for today.  I've put together a card but did not include a sentiment.  This means that the card will be used when it is needed.  It can be used for sympathy; for birthday; for thank you; or for thinking of you:
Enjoy your view:

Enabler's List:
cardstock: beige Recollections; pink Hunkydory; 49 and Market Cottage Life design paper
dies: Elizabeth Craft curvy leaves;  Stamp Simply teacup;  AliExpress doily
embellishments: Recollections pink flowers; Wild Orchid Craft white mulberry heather stem; Recollection doily.

Thanks for coming by today.  Your comments are always welcome and appreciated.
Until next time...

"Your Kind Heart"

I can't believe it's Wednesday, June 20, 2018.  Can you?  Of course!
We look forward to the middle of the week every week.  It tells us that we only have a few more days until the weekend.
School is out and the kiddos are not having too much fun due to the very hot, humid temperatures.  It has been a weather caution put out over the air and on the TV about making sure you don't get heated and dehydrated.  Not only for people but pets are included.
Today's card is all about the "kind heart".
How much do you do for others and they really appreciate it?  How much does others do for you and you appreciate it?  Kindness can be stretched for miles and miles around even if it is not appreciated by some.  If you don't receive a kind word or gesture for your service, then, don't think it has been over looked.  God sees everything and knows everything.  HE will open the window and pour out a blessing upon your good deeds.
I'm posting a card with two photos.  The cardstock has gold foil on it but I couldn't get a good photo of it.  Take a look and enjoy:

Enabler's List:
cardstock: cream pearlescent  PaperandMore; Hunkydory Vintage Glamour
dies: AliExpress; Elizabeth Craft; Spellbinders Celebrations;  circles and heart
embellishments: Recollections purple flowers; Studio G faux pearls
stamp: Simon Says

Stay cool and refresh yourself with water.  Don't get too hot if you're anywhere in VA.
Thanks for looking.  Comments are always welcome.

Lois

"Criss Cross Card Using Prima Havana"

Good Monday morning to you.
Hope you had a glorious, fabulous weekend.    The celebration for father's doesn't stop just because Father's Day is over.  Celebrate them for the remainder of 2018 and then some more as long as they are still with you.
I have seen so many cards called the "Criss Cross Card" and I wanted to give it a try.  I haven't forgotten my New Years adventure (try something different).  I watched YouTube.  I checked out Pinterest.   I saved a lot of ideas and today I'm trying out one:

"Playing With Dolls And Clay"

It's Friday, June 15, 2018.  Hello Everyone.
Congrats to all the children moving on to the next grade.  Some of you will hug and shake hands on this last school day.  Some will still see each other during the enrichment summer programs.  To all my fellow teaching peers...enjoy your summer and get some rest and relaxation before August  if you do not plan to help out in the enrichment programs.

Last weekend when "Sunshine" came to visit, we had lots of fun and did many activities.  I had promised her I was going to post her project but I saved it until today.  While she was playing with clay (I did also for a little while), I was putting together pieces to a paper doll from a die I wanted to use.  It was actually  bought for her but she was more interested in the clay.  The dolls had been on my desk (yes, you remembered...what's on my desk) until this morning.  The typewriter and flower doilies were also there.   I pulled out paper and an embossing folder to spruce the dolls up a bit.  One received a sticker sentiment from a planner book of stickers and the other one was left blank.

entry for http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com

Enabler's List for first doll:
cardstock: linen white from Hunkydory;  black from Recollections; pattern paper from stash
die: black leaves from Elizabeth Craft;  black doilies and girl from Ali Express (unbranded)
embellishment: flowers were fussy cut from pattern paper;  Nuvo gloss ebony black crystal drops

Enabler's List for second doll:
cardstock:  linen cream from Hunkydory;  black and red from Recollections;  red pattern paper from my stash
embossing folder:  Sizzix lace
die: girl from Ali Express;  typewriter cut from Cricut Design space
embellishment: sentiment from The Happy Planner

"Sunshine's Clay Project:

Here is the project "Sunshine" worked on during our fun day Saturday.  She had made an alligator before doing this project.  My iPad was not in the room to take a picture of her first project.  She mainly used the green clay to make this.  Don't forget to send her some LOVE.

Have a fantastic, lovely weekend.  Enjoy Father's Day!

"Three Colors...Purple, White and Silver"

Happy Thursday Everyone.
One more day until the start of the weekend.
Are you ready for the grand Father's Day celebration?    Someone wanted to know why Father's Day is not as hyped as Mother's Day?  My personal answer...we as mothers have to endure more than fathers.  When you look at who really cares for the children, I think the light from mothers shine more brightly than the fathers.  Maybe I'm bias since I am a mother.  Who does the "little one" run to when there is a bump or bruise?  Who gets to help with homework?  Who answers the most when the "little one" is hungry?  Yes, fathers may be the ones who teach the driving lessons and handle the moving when they  go off to college but for me, this happens after the mother has practically reared the "little one" to adulthood.  All said and done, that's why Mother's Day gets more hype than Father's Day.  What's your take on the question?

Today's inspiration is color.  The color purple (not the movie), combined with white and silver for a card.  Take a look and enjoy:

Enabler's List:
cardstock: Neenah white;  purple Bazzill; purple Mulberry paper from Mile High Net Store;  silver cardstock from PaperandMore

We've made it to the middle of the week and we're moving forward to a grand time this weekend with all the fathers in celebration of Father's Day.

I've made a card today that can be used as a Father's Day card.  It can also be used for a Birthday card.  The sentiment is "DAD  TIME" for either occasion.

"Worry Less Live More"

Hello friends, viewers, visitors and followers.
How is your day so far?  Are you working hard or hardly working?  Are you smiling of have a frown on your face?  Do you feel happy or you still have that feeling of sadness about you?
Is it something that can be said or done to help you along the way?
Will it help if someone said to you, "worry less and live more"?  That is easier said than done for most people.    Mental illness, depression, bipolar disorder and PTSD are real issues.  Some people need professional help  and sometimes just asking if they are okay may not help them.  I wonder if those words were repeated to Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain would  it have made a difference in their life?
My card share:

Take a little time for yourself today and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.
Thanks for the few moments you share with me.  Thanks for all the comments you have made.
Always come back and visit with me again.

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois

"Making Life Beautiful Day...Smile"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers on this Monday, June 11, 2018.
What a wonderful weekend we all had...you and me.  Our granddaughter came on Friday evening and left in the middle of the day on Sunday.  From the time she entered the house it was laughter and fun until she got into her parents vehicle to leave.  Oh, I miss her so much!  Since it will be Father's Day weekend coming up, we have been invited to come to her house to celebrate.  Only five more days before I see "Sunshine" again.   Okay, so much about her.  Moving on...

The National Day Calendar says that today we should be celebrating NATIONAL MAKING LIFE BEAUTIFUL DAY.
How do we do that?   It is a day dedicated to encouraging and celebrating men and women who are making life beautiful.  Whether you’re creating beauty through building relationships or helping others achieve personal success, one small action can lead to a ripple effect, making life beautiful not just for yourself, but for those around you, too.  Help someone you know to achieve a personal goal, donate time to a worthy cause, help someone less fortunate or just do something nice for someone.  On social media, use #MakingLifeBeautifulDay.

The card I made was inspired by this celebration:
Enabler's List:
cardstock: Neenah white;  Bazzill red;  Recollections black;  pattern paper Heartfelt Creation
die: Alina Craft
embellishment: Nuvo white crystal drops

See if you can make a difference in someone's life today.  I know they will enjoy it.

Thanks for your time and your viewing.  You are always welcome to come back.  Comments are appreciated.

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois

"Three Different Die Cuts For A Quickie"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
I am very, very busy today.  Preparing for family to join us for the weekend.
I stopped to post something I made early this morning and  I'm just getting around to sitting at this computer to post it.
It's a quickie.  Everything wasn't exactly on my desk but it was in my cut file folder except for the metal piece.
Pardon me if I don't give you an Enabler's List today.  I can tell you that the flowers came from Alina Craft;  the ballerina came from Memory Box; and the background for those two die cuts is a Tim Holtz die.
Thanks for viewing...have a great, fantastic weekend.

Good Thursday, June 7, 2018 to all.
In my opinion, it has been a very fast week.  Zip, zip, zip and it's all over and the beginning of another weekend.  One more working day in this week and we will be there enjoying another break.
Yesterday I shared lace and pearls with you on a card.  Thanks for so many beautiful comments.  I assume it was pleasing to the eye and inspirational as well.
Today, I'm doing day #2 of lace and pearls using Stamperia "Old Lace" paper pad, more faux pearls and real lace.  I hope you enjoy this card as well as you did the one that was done on Wednesday:

"Lace And Pearls"

Hello friends, followers, visitors and viewers.
It is Wednesday..."hump day" and I am enjoying everything...the chores, the weather, the exercises, the crafting, the etc.  I think you get the point.  Life is wonderful with all the positive against the negatives.  We have to enjoy it all because there is a lesson to be learned.
On Wednesdays, I try to make something for my bible journaling assignment (make a card and send it to someone).
Today's card has the sentiment, "Believe In Miracles".  In our Sunday School class, some people don't believe that miracles still happen.  They think that just because Jesus is not walking around here on Earth that HE took all the miracles with HIM back to heaven.  Ponder on this for a little bit.  Do you believe in miracles...not those that happened in the biblical days but those that can and will happen in your time?
Here is the card that I'm sharing today.  Polka dots, lace, and pearls, oh my!
entry for http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com
Enabler's List:
cardstock: PaperandMore  linen cream and cream pearlescent; Kaisercraft craft; Colorbok  vintage
die: Alina Craft
lace: Walmart
embellishment: faux pearls from Martha Stewart
sentiment: ArtC "faith" ephemera

Thanks for coming over to view with me today.  You know your comments are always welcome.  Leave me one and I'll get back with you.  As always, you are welcome to come again.

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois

"A Bit Of Stamping And Coloring"

Happy Monday, June 4, 2018 to Everyone.
What a great start to another week (hopefully).  It started off a little rocky on yesterday (Sunday) but all is well.
Today, I used a stamp and some Prismacolor pencils to make a card.  I practiced on some black cardstock as well as a patterned piece of paper.  Read that statement again...I practiced....I was practicing...Practice did not make perfect so I'm going to keep trying.  Anyway, I'm sharing my practice pieces:
a share for http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com

I used Simon Says Stamp "Beautiful Flowers" stamp along with Versa Mark ink and embossing powder (white and silver).  Out of the Prisma colors I picked reds, pink and greens to color the flowers.
I wasn't very happy with any of the results but I did turn one into a card and added a sentiment.  The other two practice pieces will be filed for a later date.
I like this stamp very much due to the flowers and I intend to use it again with distress inks or my water colors since I don't have Copic pens.  I've seen some awesome cards using this stamp where the colors were vibrant and the flowers looked so real.
As the saying goes, practice makes perfect.  I just have to keep at it.

Thanks for looking.
Sending you a hug and love,
Lois

"What's On My Desk?"

Hello Everyone!
It's Friday...It's the first day of June...It's the beginning of another weekend.  What can we do?
Today, as usual on a Friday, I've looked on my desk to create something for your viewing.
I was working on gathering supplies for masculine cards before my brother suddenly died last week.  I just wasn't into the masculine feeling so I left everything on my desk.  This morning, I used the craft cardstock to cut out seven pieces of 1/2 inches of cardstock.  I used a 1 inch punch to round the corners.  I also used the remainder of the cardstock for a layer between cardstock from Tim Holtz paper pad which had been cut out previously for other cards.  The hemp rope like cord had been on the desk to be used as embellishment for the masculine cards.  The flowers were recent left overs from cards that were made this week.  So, when you view this card, it is really a mixture of male and female qualities.  The stamping was done today.  I used a Molly & Rex stamp for the sentiment.
Thanks for viewing with me.  Hope your weekend is full of fun, love, and laughter:
Two views of the same card with different lighting.
I will enter one of these pictures over at http://www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com

Sending you a hug and love,
Lois
